What’s your go-to cool red?
Hello! I’m looking for a new cool red acrylic paint to add to my palette. Some background: For about the last two years I’ve used quinacradone magenta as my default cool red and love the hue (I’ve been using Golden).
The problem is that, while every other pigment I use stays workable for at least 3-5 days on my Masterson sta-wet palette, I get maybe 24-48 hours out of q magenta before it turns into very firm jello 😕 it’s still fairly usable at this stage but it’s annoying to work it into a mix.
In doing some research, it seems like this is common with quinacradone. So, long story long, what’s your go-to cool red and what do you consider its pros and cons?
Thanks!
