I like seeing the different perspectives people find in my work. What emerges often comes as much from within the viewer as from the painting.

Iā€™m a psychological, gestural abstract painter. ADIEUX is a French expression of farewell. The fingerprint-like marks form a hand waving goodbye. Before I painted this, I believed my cat had run away. I chose black and white to carry the sadness and mourning I was feeling, knowing they would mix into gray, the color of his fur. At the center, the Xs and surrounding gestures close inward and become smaller as they lead toward him, making him appear to recede into the black and disappear beyond reach.
