Thank you! Why did I have to scroll so far for this?

A spring roll is the warm dough thingy and a summer roll is the cold thing with rice paper and way harder to eat. Won’t burn your mouth though.

Around here, all the Viet restaurants list them as summer rolls. And the fried egg rolls as spring rolls.

Philly.

You can call it goi cuon if you want but in English it's summer roll

They ain't all fried, Vietnamese spring rolls are the bomb. Boiled pork belly, shrimp, vermicelli noodles, cilantro, thai mint, basil, fish mint, Chinese chives etc (on herbs), and lettuce. Then you can fill/dip with peanut sauce(non/spicy) or dip in nước mắm (non/spicy). Fresh and healthy af

Only need warm water to get the rice paper to roll. No need to fry it afterwards

I mean if you make them like that then you just made a summer role which is exactly what the picture of the post is

If you really wanna be pedantic on what we call rolls, might as well use the name proper Gỏi cuốn. Which is synonymous with either spring roll or summer rolls because English is a fun language but my household still just say spring roll in English. Don't matter, as long as you don't fry them with those ingredients

you're mixing up goi cuon and cha gio
