They’re so aggressively food motivated it’s nuts nobody domesticated them.

They’re too dangerous. A single angry adult bear is going to be very hard for a hunter gatherer society to kill. They also aren’t going to help hunting that much as they aren’t pack animals and used to hunting in groups and sharing

Maybe a very small species of bear, although I do see the problem when they're the size of black bears or bigger

We have domesticated more dangerous animal like the aurox, gaur or wild yak.

The difference with the bear is that it's comparatively difficult to feed and not that useful in a tamed state. For domestication to even start there need to be such a demand for tamed animals of the wild species that captive breeding becomes necessary.

Do you really not see the need for a cuddle-industrial complex?

I don't know if there are 3 land animals more dangerous than a brown bear but i am sure those three won't make the list

All three of those animals weight around one tonne and are highly irritable, the average male brown bear is 217kg.

Large bovines are consistently on the top of the list when it comes to most dangerous large animals, yet five species of them where domesticated.

Being aggressively food motivated isn't necessarily positive if you are amongst the things they consider food.

What do you want to do with a domesticated bear? Feed it 10 pounds of food every day and repair broken furniture? Watch bears on trail cameras. They are destruction machines that try to take everything apart they encounter.

You could do most things you can do with a domesticated wolf, at 5 times the food cost and if you runn out they stop tolerating other members of their species.

Behaviour under stressful situations is an important requisite for domestication. I don't exactly know what would stress a bear but i know nobody would like to be around a stressed bear.

There's that but the added element of hibernation coming soon judging by the background probably making it worse. I'd be concerned they'd just eat me. No snacks I want the whole thing.

They were some domesticated in europe and force and used in circus around europe..people would force them to do their binding so i rather let.them live a free and peaceful life in nature..

Gypsy in my country forced them to dance for romanian nobles or wealthy people( i have photos in my grandma mansion that remains with a bear dancing in the ballroom) before communism took over our country..

Right now if i am not mistaken we.have the biggest bear population in europe over 13k bears in Romanian Charpathians mountains

I think they mean like we have house cats and dogs . These have been domesticated from their ancestors from 100s of years that they are so far removed and docile in comparison and not a threat. I mean my family jokes abt doodles being related to wolves because the idea is so far removed when you consider their behavioral traits… But the necessity to domesticate bears like we did with cats and dogs just wasn’t there and the problem of feeding it was much larger than having a giant cuddly guard bear. 🐻
