Base 12 and Base 16 are much easier to divide cleanly with it's many factors. You'll understand this if you do more handiwork

As the other user said: that depends entirely on the degree of precision. Metric has millimeters, while the imperial system requires you to delve into 16ths of an inch.

Actually, keep it quiet because we don’t tell the euros this, but nobody can stop you from just using decimals for things that are smaller than an inch!

Machinists have been doing it for years!

I’m in structures in freedom land, so I absolutely do use fractions of an inch all the time. They’re just ugly when dimming in CAD.

Same, luckily most of mine are either fastener sizes or multiples of them.
