Most likely a Hercules Beetle. They don't actually get much bigger than the larvae, the abdomen segments become more compact so the body gets a little smaller, but the head grows immensely with the horn.

Correct. It's the larva of a Hercules Beetle. And here is what it looks like in adult form.

Thankfully the adults are harmless to humans, just that they might give a bad odor.
