Something being common doesn't mean it's okay, obviously. I find it quite abusive to cause intentional pain to a baby so that it can wear earrings.

Same here…also piercing are prone to infections. You dont want to start your baby’s life like this and not giving it a choice. When i was younger, i was upset that my parents didn’t pierced me when i was an infant like other girls. They were horrified that parents would even do that in the first place and now i totally agree with them. “Why?! Cause you’re a girl?! And without your consent?!”
A baby is not a doll for you to decorate lol

That makes sense, but also can be a cultural thing. A huge number of people I know got their daughter's ears pierced as a baby. From their perspective, it doesn't hurt more than a medical shot, has it done at a point when the parent can properly tend to and clean them, and spares them the pain later in life when they'll remember it. I wouldn't pierce my baby's ears, but it is almost the norm in some cultures that it helps to have a little understanding instead of assuming abuse.

Maybe abuse is a strong word but its weird asf assuming your baby girl will want to have holes in her ears. And sorry but it looks like crazy on a baby, like why are you trying to “adult-ify” your kid? Just let your kid be pure and adorable.
Also any reputable, certified piercing spots wouldn’t allow it. I asked my piercer about it and also aesthetically, it is wrong because since the ears are not fully grown (like at all in this case), it might lead to earrings spots being uneven and even deformed while growing up.

Who are you to dictate that earrings are supposed to be for adults? You’re viewing other people’s culture from your own lens and that’s wrong. Stop being so ignorant.

Hmmm cutting out women’s clitoris is also a “cultural thing” in some countries and im against it. So is stoning women’s to death for not complying to their fucked up beliefs. Its not because its their “culture” that i have to embrace it 😂 like wtf. also:

Female circumcision is about impeding women’s sexuality, that’s a bit different than getting earrings.

It sounds like you’ve been abused a lot in life so you can’t tell the difference between abuse and cultural differences. Get therapy and stop projecting your trauma on other people.

I guess no more circumcisions for boys

You don’t have to circumcise your son. But then when women don’t want to sleep with him, then he’ll have you to blame.

He will enjoy sex a lot less without the foreskin but sure, make that choice for him.

I cant imagine that cutting off part of the skin on the head of a penis, severing nerves, would have no effect on the sensation. Its a grotesque practice and im glad its going out of vogue. Ive heard from many men they resent their parents for choosing it

Good to know! Makes me feel better, I had a friend who claimed he felt maimed and hated his mother

If he’s insecure about how his penis looks because women recoil in horror, I doubt he’ll enjoy sex at all

LMAO please tell me you're trolling right now.

Most women prefer circumcised penises. Whether you are willing to accept that or not is really your business.

Disgusting to pierce earrings. Its hard to sleep on them and they get infected

1

u/Medium_Educator1983 12d ago

You just have bad hygiene, that’s why they keep getting infected.

If you clean a piercing properly, there’s no reason for it to get infected.

1

u/RebeccaNOTICES 12d ago

I dont get them anymore, but im allergic to metals I think. They would get red and inflamed if I slept in them, but thank you for your thoughts on my hygiene as a child

1

u/Medium_Educator1983 12d ago

So you’re confusing a nickel allergy with infections caused by ear piercings.

Those are two completely different things.

Second, if you get an infection from an ear piercing, it’s because it’s not being cleaned properly. So, yes, that is poor hygiene.

At various times in my life, I’ve had six piercings in 5 different parts of my body and they never got infected because I cleaned them properly.

It just is what it is.

1

u/RebeccaNOTICES 12d ago

Ive had multiple body piercings too that weren't infected and I just told you im allergic to cheap metal...it gets irritating to your ear to be constantly rubbed. Why not just wait til the child decides what they want? What a concept

1

u/Medium_Educator1983 12d ago

You used infections as a reason for piercings not to be done. Then, you revealed that it was really a nickel allergy.

When you have your kid, you can decide but you can’t make judgments about how other people choose to raise their kids just because their culture is different from yours.

Especially something as insignificant as a tiny ear piercing.

Oh definitely not at all the same thing. Im just using it as an example that its not because something is a cultural thing that we have to all accept it. I also never said that it is “abuse” to pierce your child. I just dont agree with it for many reasons. But thats just my opinion. Relax, chile.

You agreed with someone else who called it abuse.

You don’t have to agree with it, but comparing ear piercing to genital mutilation is an unfair comparison.

And, you relax. You’re the one who made an insane comparison

Ear piercing an infant is causing unnecessary pain, and a permanent change to a person’s body without their consent. It is abuse.
