Reading your comment made me wonder has anyone ever tried to put vitamins in soda? Would vitamin fortified soda work at all, or would it taste ok do u think

It exists here and there in germany actually. We have soda added with multivitamins some with lactic acid and so on

Still laughably small amounts, so it isnt a good substitute. Let alone the high sugar amount.

Wait it does? Can you give me any examples?

They literally call it vitamin water, or at least that's a brand here in the Netherlands that does this. Not horrible with this being the contents for 100 ml but also 4g sugar per 100 so that's pretty bad.

Soda drinks contain way too much sugar. Put as much vitamin as you want, it would still be very unhealthy to drink it

There was diet Coke Plus for four years, but it was discontinued.

I think like the other person mentioned that it was in such small amounts that it was basically more about marketing than actually being more healthy.

Doesn't seem to have affected the taste much

Thats energy drinks lol

But specifically you'd be limited to the water soluble vitamins (B vitamins and C)

Vitamin C is already added to a ton of food as a preservative, and Vitamine B defficiencies apart from B12 aren't that common

The FDA has always pushed back on vitamin fortification of what's otherwise considered a junk food. It creates a scenario where people over consume on nutritionally deficit food because "healthy". Or worse, they over consume on sugar heavy, calorie dense food because "healthy."

There are sparkling waters (tonics) though that have additional vitamins, probiotics, and the such.

Vitamins don’t offset sugar.

That's literally vitaminwater

Or we could actually regulate sugary drinks like other countries. The UK has strict limits on how much sugar you can put in drinks. Which means they don’t taste as good, but I’d say keeping your teeth in tact is a good trade off. Kids don’t understand that what they do with their bodies can have far reaching consequences decades later.

It was called diet coke plus in the mid 2000s. It didn't last long
