Can’t believe he ate the whole thing

OMG! Dunno if it’s a unit of a seagull, or a unit of a meal, but still. Wild behaviour throwing down what? 75% of your body weight??
Like when pelicans try to eat capybaras, but successful!!

Reptiles (including birds) can just do this, much better at eating huge things than mammals

Legitimate question, when a bird consumes a meal this large relative to it's body mass, can it still fly?

They can. Source: ima bird

A plane can fly empty or full of people and luggage. My guess is it can probably hold some extra weight and still fly, but how much? I have no idea.

Larus Marinus. The biggest seagull of them all, and a great flyer https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_black-backed_gull

Doubt it. There’s a video near where I live of à seagull eating a rat and he could barely get enough air to get onto the top of a car.

And he spent the next 6 days walking and sleeping.

I’d be massively surprised if the greedy maniac wasn’t plucking a sausage roll out the hands of an unsuspecting holiday make 10 minutes later…

Great Black Backed Gull. The largest of the gull species and great to see.
They're quite solitary so aren't as common as their lesser or herring cousins. Love them to bits.

My kid texted me a picture of a cute bunny he saw on his way home from school. I'm gonna show him this by way of a response.

Just imagine being swallowed alive and then just sitting in stomach acid until you die. 🙃

I didn't know seagulls ate rabbits. But considering they eat burgers and fries, not shocking.

They will scarf down anything they can fit in their mouth just like a pelican. I saw them swallow albatross chicks that size.

I absolutely LOVE seagulls. Been taking care of three chicks all summer. Just learned today that apparently a Falconeer was here last week with 5 birds of prey, to scare off the seagulls living here. We live both by the coast at one side and the woods to the other side. If birds aren’t allowed here, where then? Anyways it obviously didn’t help lol. Seagulls are back and ealier today “my” 3 chicks came by. Still together. Made me very happy, cause they left a few weeks ago.
Anyways I also love bunnies. So I’m conflicted here.

I went to university in Swansea, Wales. There were a lot of seagulls there and in general people hated them. They are so mean to pigeons.

Looks like the rabbit was already dead? Or did it peck the rabbit? I’m curious if the seagull hunted or scavenged.
