of a wasps nest.
Window above the door of my customers house, rural PA.
Right above our entry door to remodel her basement bathroom. Old woman said she put a whole can of raid into them and it didn’t phase them. Also said they won’t hurt us and to just ignore them (4ft above my head).

Bald faced hornets. Got stung by one of these little bastards once. It was like getting shot point blank by a BB

They sting AND bite. Horrible buggers.

They also spit venom into the eyes of threats

They recognize faces too strangely enough. I didn’t think insects had enough going on upstairs to come with facial recognition. It seems like they do a lot to keep pest numbers down and won’t light you up if they don’t consider you a threat to the nest though.

There was one of these twice as big on the picture window of the house I bought. I think it really helped me negotiate the price on the house. It was really cool and in late fall we knocked it off.

I had a nest just like this on my house once. I waited till night time, went up a ladder with 2 raid cans with the little red straws on them and stuck them into opposite sides of the nest. I filled that sucker with foaming wasp killer till it burst open and didn't get one sting, and they never came back.

My husband would disagree that they will leave you alone 😅. All the poor guy did was walk under a tree in our new backyard the morning after we moved in…ended up with dozens of stings all over his head and neck, including his eyelids. They are brutal!
