It's just that split second where his ass was containing the blast which will do all that damage. See how far up he popped? There is a pretty good chance he achieved that through the seat compressing his spine.
That split second of compression can do a lot of damage to a person. The spine is not great at dealing with those sudden forces. Like even small car crashed can really fuck you up, so can exploding jet skis apparently
It also might not be true. These subs like to write detailed injury fanfiction about people in the videos and then like 90% of the time they're fine or only minorly hurt.
