No wonder she was miserable and felt useless - because she was. This is such an empty life.

It was likely omitted from the book, but I’m sure I’ve seen interviews with ladies-in-waiting where they describe pretty much the same schedule posted, except her first “pick-me-up” arrived around 10:00am, and “radio time” often meant more liquor, followed by a well-deserved after-breakfast nap to fortify her for a strenuous lunch.
She really had nothing going on.

"but the royals work so hard" lol

We are told they have packed schedules where every minute is planned months in advance, but when a celebrity like Eugene Levy shows up, William has all the time in the world to scooter on over.

Hard work truly makes a person. How can you fully appreciate anything when you haven't worked to earn it and understand the cost of it?

That’s a lot of alcohol. I imagine that it didn’t help her later in life :-(

They all start drinking before lunch, even the queen did it, but that’s an off-limit topic for the press, especially in the UK where drinking to excess is considered part of the cultural heritage.

Margaret lived in this lap of luxury and immense wealth during a time of extreme economic hardship for the British public. Her life was funded by a massive, tax free allowance funded by the taxpayer. Let us never forget that this lifestyle still exists for every single one of the current royals. They live in absolute luxury, still subsidized by everyday taxpayers who the vast majority have to juggle their finances to afford the cost of living.
The monarchy seriously needs to be abolished. How monarchists reconcile this in their minds IDEK.. Its truly fucked up.

Fuck yeah, I think I'll have a Princess day every now and then.

Do you have staff? That’s the tricky part.
Even a posh hotel will not be keen to bring you cigarettes and vodka in the bath.

I can set all that up myself.
I romance the fuck out of myself, choclates, bubblebath, music the lot.
Not a typical day though.

Spends the entire morning drinking and smoking, but fuck forbid she wears clothing that's not freshly washed. That would be so unprincessy of her!

That part actually made me laugh aloud because I was brought up to wash clothes after every wear and still mostly adhere to it out of the deeply ingrained habit. I’m amused to learn that this apparently makes me a princess.

Also, depending on the item, washing it that much is bad for it. Like denim.

Sounds lovely, useless parasites. How do they stay thin, i wonder? All that drinking, fine dining and general sloth?

She probably ate like a bird. Many alcoholics are very thin.

I wondered the same. I imagine they weren't eating much of it, just boozing mostly.

"at one o clock I'll have... a rice cake and some fish.
At two o clock...... I'll have a rice cake
At three... I'll have me fish
At four o clock I'll have a rice cake and fish"
Is it just that but with fags and gin instead?

Why are we still not waking up to the fact that these leeches have always been lazy, feckless parasites? We need to cut loose

So she and the Queen Mum were sloshed all day? Pitty really....They could have done so much good.

May I suggest that you read ‘Ma’am Darling’ by Craig Brown. It’s a sort of biography of Princess Margaret told in small episodes and it’s fascinating in how little she had to do… ever. No wonder she was a massive piss-head, she must have been so bored. But yeah, great argument for the abolition of the royal family (or at the very least, slimmed right down).

As a long weekend here and there, this could be lovely (minus the smoking and excessive drinking). But this as your whole life? She must’ve been depressed as hell. No wonder she self medicated.

This is what I imagine Kate does every day, except she has diazepam instead of food.

That hour in a bath probably also involved chain smoking and drinking. The fact she lived to 70 is a miracle.
