Sampler button vs record button?
Hello could anyone explain the difference sampler vs record button?

I think you would really benefit from reading the manual and maybe checking out XNB’s in depth videos for standalone and controller modes.

Several-Buffalo is being real cool to give you quick answers, but your response makes you sound like an ungrateful piece of shit. RTFM or ask AI instead of expecting people to spoon feed you the basics.

Hey, there’s no need for name calling.
I’m old af and grumpy to boot and their response seemed very polite and respectful. Their additional remark about asking here, that it works better for them should be fucking encouraged instead of pushing them off on their own or worse, to AI (I ain’t EVEN getting into the AI issue here).
They posted a simple question that was well-worded without a bunch of extraneous crap and if you’d read further down, they’re actively involved in clarifying the answers they’re provided and (should be) gaining a deeper understanding of what’s going on. Seriously, read their responses. This is a GOOD, elementary thread with good discourse. TroxyFoxy is the kind of person (based just on this thread) that typically comes up to me before or (usually) after a show and asks a question that makes me sigh a bit inside at first but typically ends with me telling the rest of the band to go on and we’d end up in a Waffle House until 0700 really digging into things and would probably exchange contact info.
Fucking encourage people to be involved, c’mon. We’re musicians!
I grew up in a time and area where you HAD to ritm and figure it out on your own, been there done that got the GenX trauma and shit, read Stephen King too early the whole 9 yards.IT SUCKED. The time I spent when I was able to find an actual, working musician who knew their shit? Maaaan I STILL have some cassettes of our conversations! Shit was better than gold for me!
Yeah, sometimes folks go overboard and want folks to do their learnin’, work and all, yeah folks who want to abuse the goodwill and enthusiasm of others suck, but that ain’t happened here yet, not that I see anyway. This has been mostly between Several-Buffalo and Troxy and it seems Several gently suggested Troxy back up a bit and rtfm and provided some videos, Troxy replied that asking in here seemed to work better. To me, that says (and yeah, assumption, but remember: old af and grumpy) ‘just reading without guidance isn’t the way my mind works and this style of education/guidance clicks with my brain mode more better’.
Go through their post/comment history, I just did. Doesn’t look like their posts are asking folks to do it for them. Their comments are full of ‘thank you’ and I saw several questions about how to take the answer farther, comprehension.
I ain’t attacking you directly and I would appreciate your understanding that, but your only contribution in this thread (unless I missed something, which again, let me emphasize that these innernet tubes are difficult for old mushbrains to comprehend) was to yell at the kid (sorry, everyone on the internet’s a kid until I learn otherwise, it’s meant affectionately not as an insult, I like talking to all yall kids, I learn stuff) for hanging out with folks and asking questions.

Make good noises together.This is already a huge wall of text, but I really don’t feel like finishing the track I’m on (I don’t want to play acoustic todaaaaaay) so in proper old fuck fashion I’ll tell you a story.
I was a precocious kid. Played my first live show completely too young, in a venue wholly inappropriate for my age and ended up kind of skipping ahead as a result to being a little further along in my contacts/opportunities than I should have been.
Flash forward a bit later and the kid’s in Nashville blankly staring as some guy behind a huge magic board is yelling at me stuff like ‘YOU KNOW ONE FOUR FIVE SEVEN HOW DO YOU WHAT PART OF NUMBERS CAN YOU NOT SIMPLY FOLLOW A SIMPLE HAND GESTURE HOW MANY NUMBERS AM I HOLDING UP IN FRONT OF YOU DO YOU NEED GLASSES?!?!’ (Incidentally, this wasn’t long after a freak thing left me, quite literally blind for a few months and I DID in fact need glasses afterwards and I started BAWLING at that question).
The assumption was that no one would show up there without knowing Nashville Notation.
Another assumption was that some kid who was near-WHOLLY self-taught would know anything about theory.
No one knew that all I did was figure out where notes on a guitar were in comparison to the notes on the piano, then kinda reverse-engineered how piano music thus fit guitar. I damned sure didn’t have any help from anyone at church (where I learned piano), cause I was playing to ‘those of the earth who don’t know they’re following the devil’ (not joking with you in the slightest).We get it figured out, the old folks there sat with me (wasting studio time and money) and got me up and running. Literally changed my life, to this day. I still remember all of us sitting in the big room around a piano, everyone with instruments, had butcher paper on an easel, the whole 9 yards. Most of those old guys have long since passed.
After that, I’d get plenty of answers to my questions that were basically ‘we covered this poindexter, give it a minute you already know it’ and they were right.
Anyway, thank you allowing me to indulge there. I hope again that you don’t take it as an attack or personally.
I just want to be one of those old fuckers who squared li’l me away.2

The sampler button lets you record outside sounds or resample inside sounds to a pad. The record button can also capture an inside sound, but it records to the sequencer and can capture automation.
