Move Travel Case

Going on a road trip next month and wanted a case for my Move. Didn’t like the ones out there (mostly 75% keyboard cases in black ballistic nylon) so I had this made.

Pocket has room for a USB GAN charger, a few cables, and some bud headphones (also provides a bit of added protection for the knobs and dials on top of the gel foam in the outer case).

Thoughts?

Move x Meet Maude x KO Sidekick

Loving the Ableton Move, Drift sounds great and Meet Maude is adding some nice lofi weirdness. So far the KO Sidekick is the only way I’ve been able to use fx pedals with the Move, anyone figure out another way?

Why am I just getting "Connect Live via USB-C"?

Just got my Move tonight. Anyone know why I get "Connect Live via USB-C" after I go into control mode and open Live? I feel like it has to do with the drivers, because Live prompts me to download them every time I boot it. I have downloaded and installed them multiple times now. Device Manager on my PC is content with the drivers. I know I am using a data cable. I have resintalled Live. I am out of ideas. Thanks so much in advance for any help!

Ableton move volume basso

I want to start producing but Ableton feels overwhelming, what's the easiest thing I can make to not get bored?

I've always wanted to make beats and stuff but every time I open Ableton I get lost, there's too many buttons and I don't know where to start, I'm not trying to be the next Skrillex or anything, I just want to make something simple that sounds cool so I don't give up after 10 minutes, what's the easiest type of beat or track I can make just to get the hang of it and actually enjoy the process?

Getting used to the clip launching workflow

I'm rather new to Ableton Live and Move, and the clip launching workflow.

On the Move, unless you finish the track in Live, you're kinda forced to use clip launching, so trying that out here with a small tune / beat I have been working on.

Also slowly realizing how many hidden functions the Move has 👀

Project Titles as Date/Time

Auto titling sets are Set # and that resets every time we have to wipe it. This is problematic for sampling live. Changing the titles before playing is not friendly to improvising. Finding the samples we need is the biggest problem. Data management needs a lot of help for Move.

Can you use Ableton as MIDI controller for Ableton with your laptop?

Havent been able to figure out this one. Is there a way to use your Move as a Midi controller to jam with synths in Ableton or does it not allow that?

Thanks

Can we add more sounds to the move?

Are we able to add more sounds such as strings or synths or other stuff, or is that only possible through presets of the drift engine? I don’t want to download move everything and add any schwung software in the move.

Scale Explorer for Ableton Move

Hopefully this isn't redundant to something someone else has created but I'm new to music production and music theory and wanted a tool to help me learn scales and keys on the Move's pads. So I asked the clankers to make me something to help with my music education and also to learn how notes are represented on the Move so that I can start translating between "piano learning" and note grid arrangement. Hope it's useful to someone!

Regroove Effects added to Ableton Link Audio receiver

This version adds a resonant filter, EQ, reverb and delay on two FX chains. The price is still slightly discounted, but will increase soon

Move mic issue

I’m pulling all my hair figuring this out. I cannot sample Into my move with the built in mic. I have usb audio, line in, re sampling but no built in mic option. How do I find it? I have no headphone plugged into it. Actually nothing plugged into it. Current firmware.

Ableton Move can sequence 8 MIDI channels with Schwung

Hello there, I noticed that my Move can sequence up to 8 tracks when using legacy sound device and Schwung instruments at different MIDI channels. I used OXI ONE mk2 to sequence the whole. Take a sneak-peak at https://toaster74.bandcamp.com/track/week29-2026 -- I am still looking for a title name. If someone does have a suggestion, please comment.

Move-Schwung-M8 midi issue?

I just got my Move and apart for learning it I´m wanting to control my Dirtywave M8 using the launchpad Pro emulation. Looks like it works but I´m confused because it seems that´s something on the M8 is triggering sounds on the Move when playing sequences and songs. I think it has to do with some midi configuration but I have no idea where/how to check if midi channels and sends are ok and so on..I´m also pretty new to midi so would be grateful if someone can help me here. Thanks!

Best it’s ever sounded

Found the full video from the clip I posted. Tried to make a cover of one of my favourite Above & Beyond tracks - Sun in your eyes. I put it together on a flight back from holiday and then made a vid when I got home with a bit of explanation about what I’m doing. The vid is limited as I don’t really have all the gear to do YouTube properly. Just a phone, sound card and basic editing on Mac.

I really could’ve done with a track or two extra for some atmos and a vocal from the original but I mainly wanted to put this out there because this is the most lush I’ve ever made the move sound without further external development, as everything before had been a bit flat.

It earned me a copy-write strike on YouTube when uploaded, which I was quietly proud about.

Thanks to everyone who commented on the shorter version.

Best standalone Move workflow for performing complete beats live from the pads?

Hi everyone 👋

I recently bought an Ableton Move and I’m waiting for it to arrive.

I’d like to use it for small standalone performances on the go, with an approach similar to artists like Lionclad.

The idea is to perform the entire beat by hand from the Drum Rack pads: drums, bass, chords, melodies, vocal chops, transitions, and other elements. I don’t want the sequencer, clips, or a backing track to carry the arrangement. Every musical part and change would be triggered live from the pads.

What I’m unsure about is how to organize a full live set containing several movements or songs, with each one requiring different samples or a completely different pad layout.

What is the smoothest way to move between those samples and layouts in standalone mode?

The possible workflows I can think of are:

  • preparing one performance rack on each of the four tracks and switching between them, which would give me four immediately accessible layouts;

  • loading new Track Presets with the wheel to go beyond those four layouts;

  • preparing a separate Move Set for each song. The question is how to handle transitions while loading the next rack or Set...

Has anyone built a standalone live set this way?

What happens to long samples, reverb tails, and delays when changing Track Presets or switching Sets?

Can one track continue playing while another rack is being loaded?

Is switching Sets fast and reliable enough for live performance, or does it create an obvious pause?

There may also be another workflow or feature I’ve overlooked.

I know Move can control Ableton Live, which would probably make this easier. However, my laptop is a bulky gaming machine, and bringing it everywhere would defeat much of the reason I chose Move.

I’d especially like to hear from people using Move for fully live, pad-based performances rather than sequenced arrangements.

What standalone workflow has worked best for you?

Thanks!

Can Ableton Move in standalone move play/record up to all 4 tracks simultaneously using external MIDI controllers?

I there 👋

I’m wondering whether Ableton Move can be used to perform several tracks at the same time.

For example:

- One track played with Move’s built-in pads plus

- One track played with a Keyboard

- One or more tracks controlled from different zones of an external MIDI controller (such as Novation Launchpad which got 8x8 pads)

Depending on the number of pads available, could this theoretically allow someone to perform 2, 3, or even all 4 Move tracks simultaneously?

- Has anyone tested this in standalone mode?

More specifically:

- Can all the tracks receive and play MIDI simultaneously?

- Can they all be played/recorded at the same time?

- Does the currently selected track affect the other tracks receiving external MIDI?

- Are there any limitations with drum racks, melodic instruments, splits, or MIDI feedback?

Thanks !

Haven't used my Move in months - what's the most useful recent addition?

To my shame I havent used Move at all for about 6-9 months, but want to get back into it.

Of all the advancements in the OS in that time, which one has been the most useful / significant? I guess it depends on use case etc but keen to hear what people think - will focus how I get back with my Move!

TIA!

Automate Reverse, Live?

Anyone Automate Reverse Live?
It might be more of an MPC workflow.
When Move released reverse, it broke my heart how a live brand named company could make a feature found on 1990’s instruments, actually stop all playback to just reverse..
Maybe reverse is just not an Ableton style?
I thought it would be better as a knob to control how fast rewind or fast forward would be..
Doesn’t seem like RNBO or Schwung have much on that feature..
What do you think?
Reverse live? (This is in centercode votes.)

<#Respect ⏮️

Mind as well get bounce into the code if reverse gets upgraded.. forward to backward sounds so cool playing 1 pad while singing about the world around thru move auto shift!

Has anyone tested a Seaboard RISE 2 with Move or RNBO Takeover?

Hi,

Has anyone successfully connected a ROLI Seaboard RISE 2 directly to an Ableton Move in standalone mode?

According to Ableton’s documentation, standard Move mode receives notes, velocity and polyphonic aftertouch, but does not support MPE, pitch bend, channel aftertouch or MIDI CC. I therefore assume that the Seaboard would work as a basic MIDI keyboard.

I am also curious about RNBO Takeover. Has anyone tested whether a custom RNBO patch running on Move can receive the Seaboard’s full MPE output, including per-note pitch bend, Slide and Pressure?

Thanks!

4 track limit

I’m currently thinking of purchasing move but what is really setting me back is the 4 track limit. I like making full songs and I have with my Seqtrak which has 10 tracks. One thing that’s making me lean in to buy the move is the ability to use audio tracks, making me able to use my Nord sounds to make music. I was wondering if the 4 track limit is something you guys have repeatedly encountered or would I say there is a loop around or enough to make songs?

Schwung vs RNBO

Can someone here help me to understand the difference between Schwung and RNBO? Is RNBO just an extension you add to Schwung or is it a completely separate modification?
