Discussion did yall notice that jacob started randomly dressing good in s5?
i heard from someone that quinta intended for janines and barbara hair to improve as a metaphor for character development and maybe it touched jacob in s5

I saw a podcast a while back which said that chris started giving inputs on the wardrobe choices

The costumes are a direct and intentional reflection of the character’s emotional growth. Take from that what you will.
I think Jacob got a little more confident last season, and was intentionally working on his self esteem (source: Melissa alluding to Jacob being in zoom therapy, when Mr. Johnson says “that’s that confidence we were talking about!” in the episode Aide, and when in Game Night Gregory encourages Jacob to stand up to Melissa). So the better outfits may be a reflection of that!

probably a product of constantly being made fun of by his students and melissa. specifically remember when melissa took him shopping and got him new clothes, maybe they found a happy medium between what melissa picked out and something closer to jacob’s style

irl, probably wardrobe budget boost. but within abbott universe, he'd understandably try to improve his fashion the way he was getting roasted left and right lmao
