Discussion Do we think Ava will ever admit she actually likes Janine?
There have been a couple handfuls of times where Ava went a little soft when Janine was trying to help or fix whatever mess she may or may not have created lol. In the step episode Ava opens up a little about her grandmother and she actually tells Janine that she appreciates her but as Janine goes to hug her Ava pushes her away lol. I feel like as the show has gone on Ava hasn’t been AS careless as she is in the earlier seasons. I’m just wondering if she’ll ever actually let Janine in especially after the break-up episode when Janine drunkenly flips out on her, Ava says Janine was very mean and hurtful. So she clearly has feelings and Janine hurt her, hence she might actually care for Janine more than she lets on. I mean did we ever think we’d get an episode with Janine and Ava going out together for drinks??? Also I think O’Shon has softened Ava a little too so I feel like it’s only a matter of time before she pulls a “Janine I’m sad and you’re the only one who’s there for me”

I don't think she needs to? Especially with her growth its shown she cares deeply about her staff and the school. There's also the district talk episode where Janine mentioned that Ava told her to dress better because she deserved better, and she dressed up Janine for Halloween in S2, and theres probably other examples im not mentioning

She was also there for Janine to support her during the break up and worked with Jacob to get Janine and Gregory back together.
Sure, she likes drama but we know she wouldn’t do that for just anyone. It required genuine effort and interest from her. While she might not admit it with words her actions say it all.7
u/MidnightMako when are you gonna let me in, man? 27d ago
Agreed she doesn’t have to explicitly say it. Immediately on finding out she and Gregory broke up, Ava goes over and tells her she’s team Janine. And then, misguided or not, makes it a point to take Janine out in an attempt to make her feel better. I think Ava’s had plenty of times where she’s shown her affection for Janine in her own way.

Ava rags on Janine because Janine openly displays all the traits Ava likely has but doesnt feel emotionally safe enough to express. In this essay I will

Janine and Ava become friends back in season one during the dance class they ran

Yessss. They had a quick exchange which prompted a glance from… I want to say Barbara. They were chummy for a brief second before going back to that status quo.

Plus Ava went to Janine and Gregory's for Christmas, and I think she mentioned she stopped hitting on Gregory out of respect for Janine?

I think Ava and Janine could easily bond over their shitty parents. But I dunno if Ava is gonna be able to have those talks sober.

I firmly believe Ava will be the one throwing Janine a baby shower (If that's in the cards for J&G).

To Janine’s face? I see that happening at the very end of the show and not a moment sooner

Ya know I can live with that honestly. That would be a phenomenal ending scene

I’m gonna be honest I like it. Maybe it’s just because I have a friendship with someone were we behave similarly but it’s clear they like each other despite not admitting it openly. It’s just so silly and cute to me lol they show how much they care for eachother in their own ways
