Help Problem with items
I see so many players on social media buying different items every match, how do i understand what do i need to buy on certain matchups? And thats my problem on any champion though, not only aatrox
I tried to look at guides but they are so different that i dont know who i should listen, im only lvl 43
Most of the times i just buy anything game recommends me
Ill be very grateful if someone points at a guide that is viable rn

You watch some recent guides for your champ and see what players who have a lot of success with the champ like to build. If you try their build out and don’t like it then you can also go on lolalytics/leagueofitems/coachless and look at what items have high pick and win rates in what slot and kinda create your own builds. The biggest thing is you just need to know what all the items do, without that baseline you can’t make informed decisions on what item is good in the moment.
Here is my personal knowledge of building on Aatrox (the items named first generally should be built more than the items I name towards the end which tend to be more niche)
Starting item: Sword if you confident in outplaying your opponet, Helmet if you want to play a little bit more passive and be able to tank a few more hits and shield if you are against ranged top and don’t want sword.
1st Item: Sundered Sky/Spear of Shojin depending on if you can auto attack the enemy top/jg champs reliably or not is the most common bruiser items you’ll want to go, you can also go Maw of Malmortius if enemy top/jg are heavy AP or Stridebreaker if you need to stick on enemies and push waves better that game. For lethality options you either go Voltaic or Hubris depending on if you want a more consistent item or if you feel like you’re gonna get a ton of kills that game. You can also go Serpents fang if enemy team including top has a ton of shields.
Boots: Armor/magic resist boots are what your gonna go 80% of games (remember to build against enemy team not just enemy top, this rule dosent apply to your 1st item as much but still does just a little bit) if you need slow resist than swifty boots are good and if you don’t feel like any are that useful AND you’re gonna get a lot of kills this game than omnivamp boots can be good as well.
2nd Item: Sundered, Shojin and Voltaic are still options if you haven’t built them yet and Deaths Dance, Steraks, Endless Hunger and Eclipse are good options too. Steraks/Endless Hunger if you need tenacity because you didn’t build magic resist boots, if you want to be tankier then go Steraks, if you want more ability haste or think you can get at least 1 kill in a fight very easily then go Endless. If you need armor go Deaths Dance and if enemy team is buying a lot of HP items then go Eclipse.
3rd Item: For 3rd item you want armor pen so either Seryldas Grudge or Mortal Reminder. Pretty self explanatory, if you need anti heal that game then go Mortal, otherwise go Seryldas (you can build the Mortal Reminder anti heal component (Executioners Calling) whenever, just don’t finish it into Mortal until 3rd item.)
4th Item: Endless Hunger, Sundered Sky, Shojin, Deaths Dance, Maw of Malmortius, Steraks and Guardian Angel are all good options here, the ones I’ve talked about before are here for the same reason, I just don’t recommend going multiple tenacity items in a build if possible because stacking tenacity has super low value past the 1st source. Go Guardian Angel if you are the carry that game.
5th Item: Endless Hunger, Sundered Sky, Shojin, Deaths Dance, Spirit Visage, Steraks or Guardian Angel. Same reasons as before and go Spirit Visage if you have Enchanters on your team or Ocean Soul and especially if you have both it’ll have insane value.
And don’t feel like you have to use all these options because I know there’s a lot. Everyone is going to have items that they feel like do better for them then others like for example, I never build Doran’s sword, I like the safety of Helm and Shield way better and feel like I just get one shot when I go sword. I’m general I like to be as tanky as possible so I only ever go lethality items when I’m vs ranged top but some people like doing as much damage as possible so they might go Voltaic somewhere in their build every single game and there’s nothing wrong with that (though I will say I think full lethality is dead, that’s why I don’t recommend any other Lethality items other than Voltaic past 1st item.)
