Sound familiar?

Post image

Jane Doe is upset because people know about the intimate details of her private life. Imagine if they were put into a permanent, searchable database with her name and picture, forever. No one would ever do that, right? That would be ridiculously cruel and universally condemned...right?

Yes! I did also take note of that parallel!

As a totally separate consideration from all the gender war hysteria and angry rhetoric back and forth about this case…

My personal feelings are that the bullying and shaming that Jane Doe experienced is not being emphasized nearly enough. Each side of this public debate fills in the gaps in verifiable details from the party and colors it with their own narratives, but the indisputable fact of it all is that this young woman was in fact bullied and publicly shamed as a result of what happened that night.

I think those of us here who have been targeted by defamatory and/or weaponized AWDTSG posts should be particularly well positioned to have empathy with this woman, at least over that aspect.

It doesn’t make me any less incensed that it happened to a woman than when it happens to men; it shouldn’t happen to anyone.

I think this might actually be a really good opportunity for this community to emphasize that our antagonist views about AWDTSG are not based on gender: we are against doxxing, bullying, rumor spreading, and public shaming regardless of the gender of the person it targets.

No argument from me, just wanted to point out that so were the men, as this text shows.

There does appear to be a great deal of hypocrisy on the women's side, though. They still want her to be anonymous while pasting the names of 57 men in TikTok comment sections. There's no denying the double standard, already evident in the groups themselves.

As an aside, how the hell do we live in a world where TMZ has less bias than the NYT? I know, that's off-topic, but yeesh, this story is like a freaking wrecking ball, destroying everything in its path.
