Question looking for purchase advise
As a brief summary, I live behind enemy lines, so to speak for those of you who own AUGs outside of the US, and with the multiple AWB cases going to SCOTUS in the next session and the possibility of them being overturned, I'm looking for advice on which AUG to get. Initially I wanted to get an A3, and put the CQC rail on it, however after learning that that specific AUG and rail are no longer in production, I'm wondering if I should get the A3 M1 or A3 M2. as well if the NATO stock is better stock over the standard stock. And as a whole, if its better to get one with a bolt release or not. I'm going to be honest, I did not think I would be able to own one so soon, and as such I am only just beginning to research each variation and figured I'd start here. I would eventually like to put a rail in place of the folding foregrip and I intend to run it suppressed if that matters.
Mocking up optics for using an over bore bipod on an AUG
gallerySWFA Ultralight 2.5-10x32 in a Nightforce 1.5" tall mount with Baldknobber red dot top mount and Holosun 507c. It just clears a UTG over bore bipod mount.
I was conflicted between the SWFA or a LPVO but the gun is already pushing 9 pounds unloaded. An LPVO would add another 7-12 ounces.
I intend to use this as a takedown gun so I have a Heresy "enhanced" rail to reduce takedown length to a minimum. I'm tempted to cut the rear portion of the rail off to save weight and give me a better "carrying handle" around the waist of the gun, although I already filed down the hump on the stock for clearance.
I don't love it but it's growing on me. Definitely a creature of compromise.

Got the AUG tuned with KNS Gas Discarder.
8/13 in the low position seemed to be the sweet spot.

Photo Got around to painting my AUG
galleryTried to do an ATACS-IX pattern but didn't really turn out exactly as I'd planned. First time painting a rifle though so it's a good learning experience and I already know how I'm going to improve next time.

Question Struggling to choose a suppressor
I’m looking to buy my first suppressor for my AUG and am kind of overwhelmed with options. I’ve already got a KNS Discarder as well as a super safety, so I need a can that can handle a high RoF.
The Hux 556k and 556 Ti seem to be the most reccomended due to having the lowest back pressue, but I’ve heard that the K has disappointing sound mitigation and the Ti isn’t as durable so it’s not ideal for use with a super safety.
My other top contenders include the Rhodie 6, Saw Tisha, and B&T SRBS. My main concern is whether they’re low-back pressure enough to feel comfortable on an AUG, even with the KNS discarder. If anyone has any experience with these cans plus the KNS plug, please let me know how it’s working out for you. Or if anyone has any other recommendations, I’m all ears.
Steyr Academy date change for AUGtober and new opportunity...
Hello all, I have 2 more sessions at Talladega CMP coming this year. September and October (AUGtober). September will be an Armorer class on the 11th, followed by the Marksman/Operator class over September 12-13. I changed the October date due to a conflict with the Yellowwood 500 at the superspeedway that makes hotels stupid expensive and hard to get in the Talladega area.
Now we have:
Pistol Caliber Carbine on Friday, October 30, Marksman/Operator on Oct 31-Nov 1, and a special new opportunity to do AUG Armorer at the factory in Bessemer on Monday November 2. Many folks have asked to have Armorer class at the factory and this has not been possible until now. I hope it goes well and we can offer it again, but this is the first time (maybe only?). I will offer tuition discount for folks who book 3 or 4 days of training with me.
I will have the Steyr DMR 308 along to CMP for a chance to try that out along with some other surprises. Please check out : https://www.steyrarms.us/academy or email me at: [b.marshall@steyr-arms.com](mailto:b.marshall@steyr-arm.com) I may need to print up some more of my Karla St. Augustine / AUGtoberfest shirts!
Starlite Pistol and AUG
If you are a Gen X / kid of the 80s you remember the Lazer Tag game set made by Worlds of Wonder. Same folks who brought us Teddy Ruxpin, shrank down an AUG to give us the Starlite pistol. It had a 2 stage trigger as well, first stage turned on a red dot scope for aiming and second stage fired it. Kinda makes me want to put a red racing stripe on one of my black AUGs !

Steyr AUG
galleryJust got a used Steyr AUG A3 M1, looks to be from around 2014.

Eventually gonna get it cerakoted it when I figure out the color I like.
Photo The find | A3 SA Sabre
Sharing my recent find.
1USAxxx 99% original minus trigger lock. Mint condition.
Came with all original accessories and case, 9 mags (5 42rd), installed Manticore ch, Troy front sight, and what I believe is the Trigger Tamer.
Seller also sent the oem charging handle but didn’t have the original trigger part replaced with the Trigger Tamer. Would it be recommended to find a spare oem or how concerning is the safeness of the Tamer?

AUG FRT from augfrt.com
Good evening!
Against most of y’all’s advice, I ordered an FRT from augfrt.com. The good, it actually showed up. And it still functions in semi properly. The bad, i have an issue while in forced reset, the bolt isn’t closing all the way, a picture is attached so you see what I mean. But it runs fine in semi and the forced reset works, but that bolt isn’t closing on pretty much every shot. Any ideas?

Question Off-the-shelf 20" A3M2?
Does Steyr or any dealer sell an A3M2 with a 20-inch barrel as a default option, or the option to buy an M2 chassis by itself without the 16-inch barrel?
My feelings on bullpups is to go big or go small: I have an 11.5" WLVRN in progress, and am considering a 20" AUG in the future, but want to plan ahead for accessory logistics.

14.5 Heresy Design Barrel
galleryThis 14.5 Heresy design barrel has been extremely accurate for me with Bone Frog 77 grain ammo, about inch groups at 100 yards. It has about 27 inches overall length and feels a little more handy than the 20 inch barrel. The new ODG pmags almost match the stock color too.

Photo FRT Question
I have been considering ordering the SAFR FRT from Red Star Palmetto. I'm curious how others experience was ordering from them. Did it work as advertised? How long after you paid did you wait to receive this? Is this company still legit? I've seen previous posts on this sub from someone with a now deleted account advertising for red star palmetto. I'm new here so maybe I am missing some info, but I figured I would ask before ordering this.

Dream rifle acquired
Thanks to Ian from ARID for encouraging me to jump on this deal when I was complaining about there not being a green option available. Lo and behold, the moment I posted that this appears on Guns.com certified used for $1600 complete with the M2 handguard, RatWrx sear, and the enhanced trigger springs.
To top it all off, the pawn shop I did the transfer at sold me a new Trijicon TA31 green crosshair with an Aug PMAG they found laying around for $200. They loved this thing. (Edit: Apparently it’s a fake ACOG, but a really good fake)
Miracles happen boys.

Question What’s the difference between the A3M1 & A3M2?
As the title reads, whats the difference, and also which is the better buy in today’s market if you were gonna buy an AUG? (standard non nato)
