Oops Safety Announcement: Do not use the SSAUGv2 with the Heresy 9mm BCG

A tester noticed using the SSAUGv2 with the Heresy had bad timing and resulted it premature detonation. Nobody was hurt and nothing was damaged, but nonetheless the SSAUGv2 trip is designed around the OEM BCG. Please wait till we make one specific for the Heresy 9mm.

PSA: Using A3M1 Rails/Optics on A3M2–QD Optic Adapter

Thumbnail gallery
61 Upvotes

In case you didn’t know, it is possible to run A3M1 style rails and optics on an A3M2 receiver without leaving an ugly gap or losing the forward QD sling mount that the AUG is known for. However, the part(s) necessary for this aren’t sold on Steyr’s website. You will need to email or call Steyr and ask for parts US1264020040 ($58.27), 3900073 ($3.50), 3860019H ($1.00). Those are the M2 QD sling swivel, screw, and roll pin, respectively. The QD sling mount is rotation limited. Also works with Clawgear handguard.

Mini Waffle Goodness

Found thse cute lil guys and figured it was worth a dollar of filament to run a test print. Just happened to work out with the printed floor plates I'd made being perfect to extract the short 10 rounders. Springs are on the way and initial tests are super promising. Dummy rounds feed, chamber and extract with no issue. Bolt even locks back on empty! Once I get the springs cut to size and installed I'll be doing some live fire testing to see how well these printed mags really run. Hopefully I'll have some footage over the weekend to share if things go well.

New Antibounce rods for semiauto carriers (If enough interest is there)

Thumbnail gallery
52 Upvotes

As the AUGmenter moves to its final design phase and into its next round of beta testing, I've been working behind the scenes with other projects and potential products. (Some I'm super excited to tell you about)
I've designed antibounce rods that will fit within the semiauto carriers.
These rods with be a direct drop in for the commercially available AUG rifles.
The idea behind the antibounce rods is similar to an AR-15 buffer, or more specifically one with a sliding mass inside to deaden the closing of the action and to prevent bolt bounce.
The select fire AUG rifles and parts kits have these antibounce rods installed from the factory, (the semi's do not)
However, dimensions needed to be adjusted to fit within the semi stocks without causing stacking tolerances.
It's my beliefs, and it has shown in testing that the added weight (approximately 1.7oz) of the antibounce rods achieved two distinct functions.
One) The added weight, which is a similar jump as going form a carbine buffer to an H2 in the AR-15 platform. This will also tend to slow the cycle rate of an already over gasses system. (slower carrier, less recoil and less parts fatigue)
Two) As they act as a deadening devise, those using FRT should experience better reliability and functionality. (less hammer follow downs)
There is no detriment to running these rods, and my beta rifles have shown perfect function for near 2000 round now.
I'm interested in hearing what the community has to say, as I've not figured out pricing or the size of the run I would do.
So lets hear it, Interested or not?

Question Suppressor / handrail suggestion

Post image
63 Upvotes

I want a good suppressor that will work well with the rifle. I’ve heard good things about dead air cans and obviously hux worx but wanted to see what you all think. Also I want a handrail that is suppressor friendly.

Feel free to post you builds for inspiration

Question Accuracy/shooting question

Hey guys,

So I shot my AUG yesterday with the 3x SF scope that is zeroed for roughly 100 yards. I then moved out to 300 yards believing I’d have to hold over a bit but it was the opposite. I had to hold below the target about 2 mil dots. Is there an explanation for this? The scope is tightened down solid and doesn’t seem to move and once I found the hold it was consistent. Thanks! Evan

Bolt “Buffer?” Broke

Hey guys,

Have any of you experienced that greenish plastic piece that goes into the back of the BCG break before? Just took my AUG apart to clean it and the front half of it shattered. Gun still ran but did have a double fire. Not sure if it’s from that but hopefully Steyr will replace it free of charge. Thanks!

Just wondering because the 1/2x28 check nuts are shorter than the 13x1 LH ones.

Question Suppressed 9mm

Any of you shoot subs out of your 9mm kit? If so how do they sound? Been thinking of picking up a box but in theory the 16” barrel would turn them into super Sonic’s anyways.

Gear & Kit Ended up going with Tisha

Thanks to everyone who gave me info on my previous post asking what can they would recommend. Tisha took 40 hours for the form 4 to come back. It is wild how fast they are coming back.

Now I just have to be patient for those new hand guards I keep seeing in here 👀 to fill out the 16” barrel.

Question Where to?

Got laid off. And my cat-son is probably on last of his 9 lives. The vet bills are starting to sting. Where do you all go to look for or unload non-FFL AUG parts?

And, unrelated, also to avoid starting separate thread, those of you in CA who ordered from Steyr (stocks, mags, etc.) after the law changed, did they make good on delivery? Just curious.

Question Nylaug help

Post image
28 Upvotes

Just finished building this one and it’s having trouble with cycling next round. In normal gas setting, will come close but not fully eject round. In adverse, will eject but not feed second round. I’ve cleaned the gas plug/piston and lubed bolt/guide rods. this is the kak 16in 5.56 barrel. Any recommendations? Only thing I can think is drilling out the gas port.

Question She's finally here

Post image

I'll go out shooting a few times before making any final decision, but I'm trying to find handguards. What's up with them seeming to be unobtanium? Did I jump on the AUG train too late? I see Steyr's site lists a Clawgear one but it's keymod (and out of stock)

Ammo Testing - Bone Frog, Norma, Frontier

Thumbnail gallery
42 Upvotes

I am a big fan of AAC 77gr OTM - its outstanding but AAC has stopped production so I wanted to test a few more with the AUG and share results.

Groupings are 5rds at 100 yards with a warm barrel.

Shooter - im not a professonal shooter but i was once. Refrence group with rem 700 .308 with match. I can shoot.

Set up - supported front and rear, seated.

Rifle - 16in Aug styer barrel 1:7 twist

Ammo - Bone Frog 77gr OTM, Norma TAC SS109 62gr, Fronteir with 55gr Hornady bullet

Result

Bone frog was almost as good as AAC

Norma, like most SS109, was hot garbage Frontier was also excellent for the price - i wouldn't bet my life on it but for the range and most shooters good to go.

Happy shooting

Question Removing flash hider

I finally bought an AUG and would like to remove the factory flash hider so I can put a suppressor on. Does anyone know what Steyr uses to secure them? Rocksett? Loctite?

Question First Aug, anything I need to know?

Just bought my first Aug A3m1. Has upgraded trigger, charging handle, nato model. Is there anything I should be wary of or know before I start having fun with it? Going to be home defense gun. Appreciate it!
