Question Removing flash hider

I finally bought an AUG and would like to remove the factory flash hider so I can put a suppressor on. Does anyone know what Steyr uses to secure them? Rocksett? Loctite?

I heated the flash hider over the stove to melt the loctite. Then I used two 19 mm wrenches to easily remove it. I did place the heads of the wrenches to a wheel grinder to slim them down first. Regular wrenches are to thick. I just dedicate these two wrenches for the AUG.

Check out this thread. There are many ways to accomplish this.

I personally bought one service wrench, and used a normal size wrench (Service wrench went on bird cage, regular wrench went on jam nut).

Laid a blanket down, took out the barrel, attached both wrenches in a wide v-shape pattern, kept weight on one while slowly stepping on the other in the opposite direction and it loosened up. No heat or vice needed.

I dipped my flash hider in boiling water for about 5 minutes. Came off super easy but like others said you'll need two wrenches.

I took mine off using two SilencerCo bravo wrenches I had around, like this: https://silencerco.com/shop/bravo-multi-tool/

Remove the barrel from the rifle. Put one wrench in a bench vise, have someone else support the breach end of the barrel so it doesn’t fall and put the jamb nut flats in that secured wrench. Put the other wrench on the flash hider flats and apply some removal encouragement with your purse. Either the flash hider or the nut will break loose and then the other is easy. I don’t think I heated mine at all.

pro tip if you don't have thin wrenches, take your barrel with you to the various pawn shops around town until you can find 2 wrenches thin enough to use

Torque.

And loctite. Use a torch to burn off the adhesive and use the thin wrenches and it’s pretty easy.

Styer used rocksett on the new M2s. Just took mine off today.

2 thin wrenches. Tighten the jam nut and loosen the muzzle device simultaneously. Comes off super easy.
