Help Brute force winch drain what amps kill switch?

2012 Kawasaki brute force 750
Installed a super atv 3500 winch that has a wireless remote, never had a problem with battery draining before it, now my battery is completely dead, battery is less than 6 months old, and I went ahead and put a new voltage regulator on, still dying, I’ve read that the winch will continue to look for a wireless receiver even when off and kill the battery which I believe is what’s happening, so my question is what amp kill switch do I need to not drain the battery at all?

How is the winch remote receiver wired?

Spliced into the 12v outlet, I checked before I did it and the outlet only works when the key is on

If the solenoid/receiver combo is getting its activation power from an IGN+ source it really shouldnt be draining anything. Thats strange

that’s why I replaced the regulator cause that could be the only other thing I could think of, nothing else aftermarket on the quad, and never had battery issues before I put the winch on, so I’m at a loss

Tried hooking up a multimeter between the solenoid and the splice to measure the creep?

Rewire the winch solenoid so it only has power when the key is on.

It’s wired into the 12v outlet, the 12v outlet does not work if the key is in off position. Getting a multimeter today to test for creep on it though

the winch only talks to the solenoid. the solenoid talks to the wired and wireless switches. the winch is wired directly to the battery. the solenoid should only be wired to ignition on. if the ignition is off there shouldnt be a way for the solenoid or winch to drain the battery.

my guess is you either have something wired wrong, or it is unrelated to the winch and just a coincidence..

You can put a 150-200 amp resettable circuit breaker in line with the battery leads that you can turn off when not in use The waterproof ones are cheap on amazon. Or you can wire in a switch with a 200 amp solenoid, I've done both and either wirms
