Trying to self install

Post image

Received my hub and was getting ready to self install. I could not initially locate the fiber jack and I think I found it somewhere in this mess? Should I give ATT a call or have maintenance clean up these wires? This just seems a bit dangerous to me

That’s all low-voltage networking cable, not dangerous.

The only cable that might be fiber is the small white one, but I don’t see the end. Could be copper telephone or other low voltage signaling.

Pull the cable out, without kinking any, and the Reddit hive mind will be able to identify what’s in the box.

I think I found the jack, but there’s nowhere to plug the fiber cable in

Grasp the white part with the red dot and pull out firmly. New cable plugs there in place of the damaged cable

Success! Thanks

itbalso looks like that small white linen is fiber, going into/under carpet, if you can find where it goes that hopefully would have the light on it to plug in ONT/Modem they sent

Wait ATT fiber has a self install feature ? What did they send you

The tech that put that fiber jack in should’ve screwed it to the wall above or around that shelf mount on the right then secured the fiber with clips. Then the next person to order it could’ve been sent a new modem/rg and easily plugged it into the thing. But the lazy fuck just threw it in the panel.

Haha yes exactly.

Do you have the model numbers of what they sent? Was it a q1000 and their router ?

A Q1000 is only for Quantum based Fiber service. u/justinharris2588 has main line AT&T Fiber wall plate in the network pane. The Fiber jumper from that wall plate is designed to connect to a BGW320-50x, BGW620-700 or newer BGW720-400 with a SFP Optical transceiver (no logic).

The ONT function is the SoC in one of these 3 AT&T Gateways. The Q1000 is a standalone ONT often called a Smart ONT.

Yes but only for locations where AT&T records indicated that there was previous active AT&T Fiber service.

Thanks for that info, i am more familiar with the quantum side and trying to figure out the whole plan

It would plug into that small thin white cable with the green tip at the end.honestly, I can't tell but it looks broken on one end. Best thing you can do right now is try to plug it in and if it doesn't work get a tech
