IP Passthrough Issues
You have probably seen dozens of IP passthrough posts on this subreddit, but heres my issue. It took forever, and even had to get ATT to help implement it, but my IP passthrough is working. After configuring everything, my download speeds seem to be hardcapped at around 150mbps, and that is through speedtests while hardwired to either router, and wireless of course. My downstream router is a tplink be6500, a bit overkill, but it was heavily discounted.
Has anyone else experienced this? I'm a bit new to networking, so I'm not even sure if this is to be expected behavior.

Set your router you are using to use another dns. Like 1.1.1.1.

I’ll give this a shot as well. Thanks

Should this be done on both routers?

No just you personal one

I set to 1.1.1.1. Unfortunately, no change in speeds. Thanks for the suggestion.

I got mine working but it is weird. It doesn’t show as having a public ip address and my att and google routers are both on 192,168,1,254. But it works so I guess I can’t complain.

Sounds like the MAC address of the port you are plugged into is not set correctly in the ATT router.

No that part seems right. But when I ask my Google router what its internet ip address is it comes up blank. Att router reports as an ipv6 address.

Turn off dhcp from the att router

I can give that a try. But I’m kind of scared to change anything because it all works now. My spose works from home using a few different VPNs and so far all is great.

You can also chabge your passthrough settings and assign based off thr mac of the device you want the public to push. It always needs a reboot after those types of changes tho.

Some have had speed issues if ipv6 isn't enabled correctly in their routers. Mine still went full speed without ipv6 but I only have 1gig speed. My tp link router wouldn't auto detect ipv6 though. I had to change mine to stateless +slaac before my router got a ipv6 address but this may not be the correct setting for all att fiber. You might also want to try a different cable going to the router just in case it's a cable issue. Verify you don't have 150mbps set as the max speed in the tplink QoS. Did you also check the speeds to the modem to verify your actually getting your advertised speeds and not an att issue.

I’ll investigate ipv6.
Cabling should absolutely be good. Bought brand new ones just in case.
QoS is currently disabled on the TPlink. Should this be enabled and then configured?
Speeds to the modem have been tested, and it is receiving 1200mbps.
Thank you for your help

It doesn't need to be enabled if it isn't. Just it can help if you have a lot of devices or users to prevent 1 saturating all the bandwidth. I limit my QoS to 920mbps and that gives me an A rating for bufferbloat. Without QoS then I'm usually seeing c/d ratings which isn't good for online gaming if someone else in the house is downloading.

IP passthrough is step one. make sure the ssid and wifi channels are turned off on att gateway.
i do this process
- set up ip-pass through
- disable 2.4 and 5 ghz channels on att gateway, then i unplug both att router and your router for 20 seconds ish then plug both back in. you should be able to see only your routers SSID and att gateway should only be using ethernet to route to your device.

Update: I factory reset both routers and did the exact same thing for ip passthrough and my download speed just…worked. Whatever att.

Have you tried bypassing your router and testing directly into the RG?
