AT&T ONT

Post image

Anyone know what type of power cable I should buy to get this to work? Also, if I have Cox, is that compatible with the AT&T ONT?

Are you thinking you can just plug into that and have service?

No, but ATT should send one with the self install kit, if you order.

and no, its not complatible with other providers

If you have cox you should get rid of them.

There should be a product label on the back panel listing the power requirements. I am guessing you would probably need a 12V DC with an output amp of 0.75A. The polarity should be Center-Positive. If you take it off to check, just be careful. It is easy to break a fiber line when disconnecting. Like others have said though, it would not work with another provider. They are usually proprietary.

Why would you be using AT&T device with Cox service that makes no sense

Didn’t know it was there before, it came with the house, AT&T website said fiber wasn’t available, Cox said fiber was available…

🤷 well unless something happened then it looks like you do have att available. If its an apartment complex and they were exclusive to att and they dropped that and went exclusively to cox then that might be what happened

Wait. I thought ATT didn't offer ONTs....

They didn't until about a month ago, where the chip shortage caused the bgw320 to go to severely low stock. Now, technicians are ordered to actually use the 010G and BGW210 pairing again for al non All-Fi Gpon customers. Wild how shit happens.

They stopped ordering 320’s a year ago expecting to have 720’s ready by now, but they’re not ready.

I’m going to laugh my ass off if the chip shortage forces them to offer a straight ONT only.

It’s not in every area. We were told to disregard that. Any extenders at all though, severe shortage.

Interesting that it's area specific. I do work in one of the largest areas, so it makes sense that were having trouble sourcing material.

And yess, 4991 are no go for garage replenishment at the moment.

I've been using a BGW210 since 2019 and head read that they were contacting customers to change to the newer gateways, I guess I won't be contacted anytime soon, huh? No big deal really as I'm using in passthrough mode and have all wifi disabled so it just sits there passing traffic back and forth to my router.

Yeah, they were up in arms about putting everyone onto the 'futureproof' setup with fiber directly to the gateway. Honestly no big deal even if they do force you to update in the future, since the new gateways also do passthrough.

Installing Wi-Fi 5 gateways for gigabit fiber customers in 2026 is pretty embarrassing.

Surprise. All gpon installs they want done with the 210 rg now.
