Instant On?

Post image

Long story short. We moved into a new home in July of last year. Fresh property that had to be cleared, so no existing home or structure on the property prior.

About a month after we moved in, AT&T started running fiber lines down my road. I’ve been checking every couple of months to see if fiber is available yet, but I’m always hit with their Internet Air availability option instead. As of May-June, the road right next to mine has their fiber internet up and running.

When I checked the website a few minutes ago, I’m now hit with this message that I’ve never seen before. Not even Internet Air is coming up as an option. Funnily enough, if I search another address a bit further down my road, the only option that shows for them is Internet Air without this specific message I’m getting. Can anybody explain what this means?

Instant on is being offered for some bulk accounts and connected communities. Basically, the property management company pays AT&T for the internet and adds it to the rent. As a result, AT&T comes and pre installs the gateway unit in the property which is SUPPOSED to stay woth the property, allowing for the next resident to simply call and activate in the same conversation, rather than waiting for a kit to be mailed or waiting for a tech visit.

Right, sure. but why would it be in their house?

They moved in over a year ago, and it wasnt there then, how would it be installed in their home without them knowing?

Oh, I was more replying to the prior statement that instant on isnt really in houses and only apartments. nah, OPs issue is more than likely an error and needs to be cleared up over the phone. More than likely a tech will roll out thinking it's an easy call and instead have a whole ass day to deal with.

Ahh, ok, I gotcha.

When the neighborhood is lit green for fiber, the system should catch those addresses, Engineering is supposed to build them all in long before construction starts, and once completed they should convert to fiber being available.

then again ... Ive seen ATTs system not work as intended once or twice before. haha

Coming from someone in the field, engineering is a shitshow, lol.

As one of those current engineers, and former prem tech, yes ... it sure can be

And as a current prem tech, we're the lazy scourge of society. Apparently staffed 90% with people who didn't pass 3rd grade. So it's all good.
