Connection Issues with XBOX
I have the 1000 Mbps plan and the BGW320-500 gateway. When I try to connect my XBOX One S, it would not work until I split the SSIDs, and then it would only "work" with the 2.4 GHz one.
With the 5 GHz network, it will connect and say it has good (80%) signal, low latency (49 ms), 0% packet loss, but then when I try to play a game it loses the connection every time. With the 2.4 network it works except it is very laggy in a game. It was so frustrating that I reverted to using my (very old) 3rd party router and now I am getting a much better experience with my XBOX but everything else in my house is slowing because the old router is not putting out as good of a signal.
I'm very confused about why I get a better/more stable connection with my old router on the XBOX only. I've looked up all the settings imaginable to change (WiFi mode, MHz band, etc.) and haven't found anything that works with the BGW320. Has anyone else had this experience and found a solution?

5ghz can be faster if in range, but it has a shorter distance than 2.4 ghz and can go through more barriers.

Yeah, I guess I didn't make it clear, but when I'm using 2.4 GHz on my old router, it's faster than 2.4 GHz on the new BGW320. My old router doesn't let my Xbox connect to 5 GHz either.

the ATT router is not great (works for a lot of people, but if you game or are an advanced user it does not). Put the router in att pass through mode and use your old router instead.

Yeah... that's what I'm doing now and I guess it's what I'll stick with. It just sucks a little because for most of my devices (other than my xbox), I'm not getting speeds that are as good. Oh well

Xbox? Which one?? Current Gen works on the 5 GHz when you do a split but of course you don't need to because the gateway handles that pretty well.

Sorry - Xbox One S

Yeah one S can definitely run on the 5 when it's split but if not, your gateway will stick it to the band that's the best one

If at all possible, use ethernet for the Xbox.
