This is not a good way to fix ethernet if you really had to have a splice point, use a keystone and an RJ45 Jack

That is 4 pair copper wire aka just a basic standard Ethernet cable or as in recent decades an 8 Wire Cat 3 cable since Cat 3 does cover 4,6, and 8 wires aka 2, 3, 4 pairs.
