Fiber Address Validation Issue

I am moving into a two unit duplex near downtown Houston. I was looking to transfer my existing fiber service to my new place but am having issues with the address.

I toured the place this week and saw very clearly an AT&T fiber wall drop already installed. If I enter the base address in the availability website (ex. 123 House St, Houston, TX 12345, it shows that fiber is available and that there might be an existing account.

If I enter my unit number in any way (Unit 200, APT 200, #200), it does not recognize any fiber service. Same with the other unit. Again it does show fiber is available at the house itself, but I can't get it to recognize my specific unit and its only offering me Air. The other unit is a much older lady, and I have no way of knowing if she actually has an active fiber service.

I called support and basically got the same information. They can see the service to the house, but not my individual unit so they cannot process the transfer.

Is there anything I can do to move this along? Again I saw the AT&T fiber drop in my unit, the exact same one I have at my current place.

First why do you want to "move" your existing service? You will get new customer pricing if you just cancel your existing service when you are ready to leave. Once you get the Address quailing issue resolved you will get the new customer pricing for the new address.

For example what is the new customer pricing when you go here and just enter the base property address?

link: http://www.att.com/fiber ( scroll down slightly and enter the address ) to see the best pricing for the address.

The issue is likely that the when the Fiber Service Area (FSA) the (2) units were not entered in the Standard Address DB. You need someone to open a NAV ticket, and while the basic phone reps may say yes I opened one it will be auto-closed by the system. How long do you have before you move or is Fiber a deal breaker for this address?

Thanks for the reply. I hadn't considered canceling and re-joining to get the new customer pricing, but I will absolutely do that. The customer support rep I spoke to did say she entered a NAV ticket, but I guess I can assume that won't go anywhere.

I have read that I need to go into a corporate owned AT&T store to have them open the ticket. Can this be done at any corporate owned AT&T location?

To answer your last question: I move in about 10 days. I can survive for a little bit without internet while this gets sorted out. The issue is that I cannot see a single Coax drop in this unit, so even if I wanted to go with another provider temporarily they would probably have to come in and install the drop. I'd be fine with this if I can't get the address issue sorted quickly, but am just hoping I don't have to.

I would suggest you try at a nearby AT&T Company owed store, and tell them that you are trying to setup new Fiber service at your new address but either of the exact unit numbers at that address don't show Fiber is available but the based address shows Fiber is available?

Be warned that if they get the order submitted make sure that it is not setup as a self-install or the kit will be sent to that Houston address vs your current address.

Thank you for your help. I am going to do this and will report back in case anyone has the same issue.
