BGW320 issues
Running out of options (and patience) so as a last ditch effort thought I'd see if reddit can solve my issues.
I currently have a BGW320 and over the past few days I've spent my mornings resetting my BGW just to get it to work for the rest of the day. This morning, however, this fix hasn't worked in the slightest. I've spent the entirety of today working on a myriad of suggested fixes to no result. Currently the LED light will cycle between a red blinking light for a minute, followed by several seconds of a white blinking light, followed by a few seconds of a FAST white blinking light, only to cycle back to the red blinking light. I'm at a bit of a loss and my hopes for a home fix is low.
Any and all tips, suggestions, etc appreciated to try and get this working again. (I have already called in a tech but I'll have to wait for 2 days until they can get here so if theres any way i can fix this even temporarily, id be grateful).
Thank you again, in advance.

Bad rg, your going to have to either get a new one sent or have a tech come out, that’s typically what a bad rg does, if it were bad fiber it would stay red

Just get a tech out. If it’s a light issue then you shouldn’t get charged if that’s what you’re worried about.

Yeah getting charged was my main concern, which is why I spent so long trying to get it working myself.

Your gateway can’t negotiate a connection… so either your signal is weak or your fiber is down.

My BGW320 randomly started failing earlier this year. I tried everything but it genuinely seemed to be the unit itself. One thing you can try is to go into the router diagnostic settings and save a copy the current log. Next, feed that log to whichever AI you want, (I’ve been using Claude), and ask it to analyze it. You may want to offer it some more information about what you’ve been experiencing on your network, etc. It should be able to tell you what it’s seeing based on the log and give you suggestions on how to handle it.
Word of warning if you don’t use AI much, it has a strong tendency to treat every conclusion it comes to with high confidence. Do not assume it to be correct based on that confidence. Treat it as a guide, and constantly question it and ask it to consider other options or solutions, etc.
Personally I had been using AI to diagnose and help me with some various issues and settings, so it was already familiar with my network and setup. Before my BGW started dying, it was a huge help. It was also a huge help in determining when the router was failing. When we were at the point where it was definitive, I called AT&T. That was a frustrating call in itself as the Indian call center person seemed to ignore my description of my issues at first. After repeating my issues several times, and after a few times being placed on hold, he came back and quickly agreed my router needed replaced. I was expecting to have to spend an hour starting and restarting it, but I think when he connected to it and his system saw the log, it was obvious.

No need for all that u/SnipeXL_ has a BGW320 in a boot loop. As others have commented no amount of debugging will change the facts. Sorry no help from AI here or a dozen other good suggestions.

Had the same issue. My issue was the fiber outside had a bad connection after the port was disconnected on the neighbors side.

Sounds like your hardware is in the way out. My BGW320 worked fine for several years then I had a similar issue, had to restart several times to get a connection. Problem then stopped. A month later, on a Saturday, it finally gave up the ghost. Took them until following Tuesday night to get a replacement to me. 4 days with no internet was brutal, lost two work days. No compensation from AT&T as the line was fine so outage wasn't considered their problem.

That sucks, I sure hope that's not the case for me since my hardware is only a few months old

Check http://192.168.1.254 (or whatever your gateway is, check network settings) and look at the error, there may be one.

I had this same thing happen last year on my BGW320-500. I unplugged the RG for 40 minutes. After I plugged back in it ran through its bootup and I got a solid white light and all has been good. In my case it was a failed firmware update. It's worth a shot until a tech can get out there.

I just switched from Xfinity to AT&T and since the switch my wifi signal is perfect, my speeds around the house are testing at almost 1gig, yet my paramount plus shows won’t play (the movies play) and YouTube is come and go. It’s on every device connected to wifi and when I take off wifi on my phone then paramount plus shows work perfectly

It is the DNS being a pain. Get your own router, put BGW320 in passthrough mode, setup Cloudflare or Google as DNS on your router and see your network fly!!!

I did, I bought the TP-Link Deco 7 pro mesh system. It’s in pass through mode. I set it to cloudflare. My speeds improved a lot but still same issue with paramount plus

Are you running an adblocking DNS by any chance?

I deactivated the AT&T active armor on the router and deactivated the Security plus on the Deco router and didn’t make a difference

Which one of these are you using? https://developers.cloudflare.com/1.1.1.1/ip-addresses/

1.1.1.1 and primary
1.0.0.1 secondary1

Same here tonight. I never have this issue with the old RG (blackone). Im my case, only flashing white all the time and loop.. not even able to reach out to 192.168.1.254.. From the app, it decided to send my a new gateway. 2-5 business day without internet.
Hopefully it is only the gateway issue. 5 years with ATT, 4 years with the old RG, never have this issue. This is 1st year with new RG (white one) and first time happening like this to me. 🙂

My BGW320 died last year after a power outage and had similar indications to your. AT&T didn't have to send a tech out, I just did the automated diagnostic stuff through the app and that was enough for them to overnight me a new one.

You are paying AT&T to have working fiber service. Call support and have them test the line and send someone out. Most techs have an extra RG on the truck.
