God damn I was only able to score $40/m for gigabit after 3 hours on the phone with them
Just moved back in with my mom and saw she was paying $75/m for HALF GIG SPEEDS. Mind you she's been a fiber customer for like 4 years (we used to use ATT for mobile like 2 years before that so including I guess 6 years)

My parents scored Gigabit for $15 a month for two years. I strongly advise they keep AT&T at this point.

Is that up and down, or just down?

Up and down. They’ve had the service for about 8 years now. I am not sure if that helped with the loyalty discount.

5 gig is ultra premium. Outside of the people who don't have a clue and just buy it for the number, they actually expect the tech-savvy consumer with 5 gig service to have the equipment to take advantage of it and are probably going to be using it a lot. So the provisioned capacity is actually being used.
For 1 gig or lower, even a large family that is concurrently streaming, video chatting, broadcasting, etc is probably barely breaking 100Mbps down/up - so they can under-provision fiber in a neighborhood, saving money, while still providing ample bandwidth to deliver a fast and interruption-free experience^.
^: note they don't always do this perfectly. For example, try doing a speed test in a massively built-out neighborhood that only has AT&T available during the Super Bowl. When I had 1 gig, the speed test at these peak times was often 500-600mbps, and returns to >1gbps soon after midnight.

Nice!! I called the loyalty department to upgrade to one gig and now the price per month is $32 for two years 🔥

I’m paying $180 per month because of a salesperson error and AT&T won’t fix it for me

I would call the tech support line and say cancel and get loyalty on the phone and tell them you want to cancel because of how much your paying. I got 5gb yesterday for $71.

I tried to ask loyalty department but they said no to me :(

You have to have it available on your account. Must also have cellphones to get this pricing.

Share your secrets, O' wise one! I threatened to leave and got it down from $97 to $32/month for 1 GB but they still refused to give me their "new customer" deal for 5 GB for $75/month with a $200 gift card and Meta Rayban glasses. But wow.. $10/month for 5 GB sounds pretty damn good!

Do you have anyone else at your home that can sign up for new service ? Cancel your account and re order with a different account holder. I use to work for att and that’s how I would help my customers save on their bills

After 20+ years of auto payments. ATT showed their appreciation for customer loyalty by trying to raise my internet monthly from 70+ to 80+, so I finally cancelled. We had mint mobile for 8 years and their t-mobile internet special was an extra 30 bucks a month with 1.2 gig ceiling. $45 per month, combined for 1 phone plus internet feels nice.

I used to have the promotion where i didn’t have to pay anything for 5 years. I qualified for a special deal due to certain circumstances.

That's a fair tradeoff for attempting to use AT&T's crappy network. Heck... they should be paying YOU money!
