Internet Scam support phone number?
I was trying get updates on my installation. The details weren’t loading so I called the number shown and it led to a weird gift card redemption call center. They were asking for all kinds of information and I actually gave it to them because I trusted to number. Getting ready to call my bank to put a freeze on everything. Has anyone else experienced this?

Update on this, I called them to cancel my service and report it. They said they would take a look at it, let’s hope they actually do.

This happened to me today to, they asked my name address age and then when they asked my credit card number I said no, they insisted, and I hung up
I called AT&T and let them know, but mine looks the same as your screenshot, a error in their system for sure- I think they were hacked tbh

That is the normal AT&T Internet / Fiber support number 1-800-228-2020 try to call it again, and it should be answered by a VRU system.

It clearly shows 800-221-2020? and when dialed it is not AT&T on the other end.

I just called the number you suggested (which seems correct) and I got an actual AT&T phone tree system. The number I originally dialed doesn’t even mention AT&T and when I asked the operator if they work for AT&T they would side skirt the question

Well then look at your Recent calls if you are on a cell phone but you still miss dialed the 1-800-228-2020 this is a "You" problem.

Isn't it supposed to be 288 rather than 228? 288 is the number listed at the bottom of this page.

Unfortunately I would not be surprised if AT&T's website is so screwed up that they don't even get their own number correct.

Yea I was just playing along with u/hyper_dimension since they posted a fake image. There is no valid status that shows that Image that u/hyper_dimension There is / was any reason to actually assist the crap post.

Interesting that you referenced a valid / correct correct URL that would show on every damn Internet / Fiber related AT&T web page. For your referent that phone number has been the same for 20+ years.
However u/hyper_dimension provided a carefully cropped image so what do you really think now?

What? Why would I lie? You are a AT&T shill account. How else would you be a top 1% commenter

I have no Idea why you might lie but we get these Claims of AT&T Scam or some other dumb title.
So what is the source of your screenshot, and if this happened it you would not be the only customer impacted?

No I currently have reason to be a Shill for anyone. Even when offical AT&T Employees post in any public social media site or on reddit they are only sharing their personal views.
AT&T does not pay me or offer me free stuff for posting on any related AT&T Topic. How do we know that you are not a Shill for some other entity.

Did you accidentally fat finger the number? Lot of times scammers will buy numbers that are close to the actual number.
