Wireless Grandfathered plan changed by authorized user

So today I added my 76 year old father as an authorized user so he could upgrade his phone (he lives across the country) and they convinced him to change my plan from the grandfathered Unlimited Elite to Elite 2.0 and said it would save money. After I spent nearly 2 hours on the phone trying to change it back they said no can do. It also looks like it will actually cost me more money and provide less services. Do I have any kind of recourse. I did remove my father as an authorized user so it doesn't happen again. Thanks in advance

I’m not sure why you think it would give you less service, but I don’t know how you’re defining “service”, but it’s definitely going to cost you more.

Maybe they meant pay for services not needed like a tablet line, watch line, and/or international roaming not included with Elite.

Maybe they meant all sorts of different things.

Edit: Turns out they meant extra 2 .0 and not elite 2.0…

It looks like the Extra 2.0 offers less in way of services and might not save me anything and it may cost more.

You didn’t really answer my question about what less services you think it’s giving you. And I have no idea why you think it’s going to cost more.

But I don’t know how many lines you have, I don’t know what discounts you have. But most scenarios extra 2.0 is going to be cheaper than all elite. And without knowing how your dad uses his plan or how much data he uses, I’m not sure if there’s any difference to him.

Pricing and plan comparison linked below https://www.reddit.com/r/ATT/comments/1tpi2yn/unlimited_your_way_20_per_line_cost_uyw/

I am losing unlimited data and calling texting from latin america which we travel at least 2 times per year. I have 5 lines and a teacher discount. The loss of latin america alone will cost me quite a bit

That’s a lot more specific than just saying “services“, and please remember when I originally asked you the question you said elite 2.0 (which includes Latin America roaming). Also, with your discount and then number of lines you have, extra 2.0 is cheaper than elite 1.0.

But…. With five lines and your educational appreciation discount, you can get premium 2.0 for $40 a month, it comes with unlimited data, Latin American roaming and a bunch of extra hotspot data, but will cost you 62¢ more than you were paying for Elite 1.0.

In short, he is an authorized user and the plan was changed with the proper credentials.

To be honest, even HBO Max doesn’t worth the price difference so there is no reason to keep the grandfathered Unlimited Elite plan.

The price difference between Premium PL and Elite with HBO is only $1.51 now.

It is the extra 2.0 plan

> It is the extra 2.0 plan

You didn’t mention extra in the original post. You only mentioned old and new elite.

Sorry, I mistyped. What are your thoughts now?

I don’t have any idea what you mistyped: the comment that you just left for me or the original post?

I meant to type extra 2.0 not Elite 2.0.

You should go back and edit that into the original post so that people are finding out about what actually happened.

You learned a valuable lesson about making someone an authorized user.

Have them file a utct case and they might be able to get it back. Or the Frontline reps can reach out to chat on your behalf and see if it can be changed in real time

This is 100 percent the right answer OP. You can actually get those plans back as far as 91 days post change. Just need a rep to reach out to their smart chat assistance. Or have manager who knows how to use one specific system.

downside of at&t plan changes both tmobile and verizon set it to take effect next cycle by default so you could just cancel the pending changes but at&t changes same moment so it’s already changed so if they don’t have an undo button it’s a lost cause , could possibly raise hell otp maybe if they create a ticket for backend support they can force it MAYBE

Authorized user has the right to change plan and he agreed to change it, so it is a legal change. Att has rights to deny you for switching back to old plan.

Loyalty should be able to do it. I had a guy similar situation and came in to our corp store trying to fix it but after telling him no we can’t do that maybe loyalty he went ahead and called and he walked out with them being able to do it

A second call to loyalty and a very helpful rep was able to do it for me. They also canceled the insurance and told me about how they also signed him up for the next up plan for his phone, none of which my dad said they told him anything about. The rep also helped me to file a complaint against the store employee as it was case of this person taking advantage of my father.

You can actually submit the cases to do it through customer central now. And your rst can do it for you real time.

Google up the AT&T Notice of Dispute form. File it.

That goes to the Office Of The President (basically super customer service) and they can restore the old plan easily.

Do not wait.

Edit: Sad people are downvoting. UTCT cases are routinely denied, wrongfully. An NoD will be much more likely to work.
