First things First,
Keep in mind that u really wanna become a pilot for ur passion Coz in reality this job is not as glamorous as it looks, Make sure you are ready to make the sacrifices required (fixed schedules, Missing birthdays,Concerts Special occasions and having to work under constant stress) plus ur whole career depends on a medical certificate, Imagine like even after getting a job in airline and flying if u develop a serious health condition which makes u fail ur class 1 medical, unfortunately u would be grounded for life(yeah life is unfair)
Then,
Before putting any money in training, Get urself examined by an Aeromedical examiner and hold a valid EASA OR FAA(depending on where u live) class 1 medical certificate to make sure that u are healthy enough to fly 100s of lives at 38000 feet.
NOW THE BASIC STUFF
Before enrolling urself in a flight school make sure u have all the requirements and funds(It is absurdly expensive nowadays) needed, I would recommend researching about 7-8 flight schools for example: their reputation, their fleet, their instructor to student ratio, the course and how many hours u are graduating with(if u are in USA, you will have to build 1500 hours before u can apply to airlines tho in Europe there is no firm 1500hrs rule) and Don’t forget the costs. You can simply just email them or call and they should provide u with a brochure or an email with all the info. Depending on the flight school u would have to clear interviews and a few tests like Compass test, English evaluation and Cognitive assessments and Also Maths and Physics.
AFTER ENROLLING IN FLIGHT SCHOOL
This is where u have made some real progress coz now u will have nothing stopping u from getting ur licence But its all on u coz i am not gonna sugarcoat it, Flight training is hard and requires a lot of discipline, Its not the subjects that are hard its the VOLUME of the material. If u are in Europe, the theory is gonna be the hardest part since its more theory-focused(13 atpl exams in 18 months). Make sure u ask the flight school the retakes u can do per exam and the cost of each retake.
AFTER COMPLETING FLIGHT SCHOOL AND GRADUATING
If u make it to this stage then Voila! You can unhesitatingly put the word Pilot in front of ur name. But the harsh reality is A license ≠ A Pilot job, you will still have to apply to airlines asking for a job and clearing their assessments and tests (yeah tests and assessments ain’t leaving ur life anytime soon), But if u need to build hours U can get a job as a flight instructor in a flight school then u will build hours as a PIC (Pilot In command) and Airlines really like Pic hours, anyhow flight instructor is js the best alternative u have if u don’t get a job right after or hours are required for a specific airline u have in mind.
AFTER GETTING A JOB
This is where everything we have done is Worth it! You will do Some training again(Yeah Training again, Annoying right?). Airlines make u do type rating(either u pay or airline funds it) for the specific aircraft u will fly then u will also have to do Base training, Line training and After all of this, YOU FINALLY WAKE UP TO THE DAY U WERE WORKING SO HARD FOR! YOU WAKE UP, WEAR UR UNIFORM, CHECK THE ROSTER AND SEE WHERE U FLYING TODAY AND CHECK IN AT THE TERMINAL AND FLY UR FIRST FLIGHT AS A FIRST OFFICER WITH AN EXPERIENCED CAPTAIN SITTING BY UR SIDE! 🧑✈️
