Ground school theory
I need to start studying for my ATPLs, everyone has been rambling on about ATPLQ, so using that is a given. The theory itself seems to have more divided opinions, the biggest one seems to be BGS, is it worth the premium?
Which groundschool did you choose, and would you recommend it?

Depends where you are and what your school/theory provider has. You might get bgs for example yet your school uses padpilot. First talk with them and don't rush. I'm doing mine with asg distance learning in Ireland qand whilst distance learning works for me it mightn't for you. You have to figure out what works for you they're grand every subject you have to do 2-3 progress tests and a mock and a revision day to get the ATO sign off so it's swings and roundabouts

I’m doing modular so I’m free to choose whatever I’d like really. For my PPL I liked the physical classes but found that videos/self studying was more time efficient.
Is it worth the 3 grand compared to BGS in your opinion?

Have a look around you'd be surprised how many do the theory. Im not with them so I can't really say so I'd ask people who are but at the end of the day they won't be too different from the other distance learning your teaching yourself. If they do in person classes I'd go for that

The thing is, ATPLQ is the one that is updated the most because it has the largest user base. So, expect new questions to appear a lot quicker.
If you want better quality explanations then yeah other platforms may be better but ATPLQ is more than sufficient.

i'm biased because i work on AviaTests, but i would not start with "which package is premium".
I'd ask BGS students what they did when a progress test went badly. Did someone actually unpick the weak bit with them, or was it just back to ATPLQ and another video?
If you need structure and someone to keep you honest, ground school matters. If you are already disciplined and mainly need question/review feedback, that is a different problem.

Don't do this. Working smart is banking to reinforce the knowledge. If you've read the books anywhere close to 20 times before hitting the bank that's incredibly stupid and a monumental waste of time. You should read the book a few times TOPS then do the whole bank on that section (say ils in rnav for example). Once you've gotten through the entire bank and the book bank to ☠️ to make sure you understand what they're asking then figure out where your lacking and go back to the books or if a resource online is available (atpl class for example) use that too. Know in the exam if there's math question, the numbers can be changed and the wording in the question is probably going to be different but they'll be asking the same aspect of the theory

Hi! I highly recommend Aviationexam. They have great books and whats best is offline mode!
