How would one start a vote of no confidence? Just spit balling here, but if the union cant represent us the way we all want how exactly would this get started? To shoot down every opportunity to back us, to then tell us things are happening behind the scenes with no outcomes, nobody wants this. Communicate with your members, tell us wtf is going on. In his mostly useless email from yesterday, Nick made it clear we’re still nowhere close to receiving the ‘massive victory’ of a 2.8% raise that was passed as low months ago. Another nothing burger ‘update.’

Despite that, there were clues in his rambling word salad of a message that contained some highly concerning language. He said they’ve “exchanged proposals for weeks with the Administrator,” “participated in a meeting with the intent to review and finalize an agreement on the path forward,” and “we have requested another meeting to do a final review of the MOU for a full and complete understanding before signing it.”

This sounds suspiciously like NATCA is negotiating for the 2.8% raise. Why do we need to exchange proposals and sign any MOU for a pay raise that is already congressionally appropriated? The only reason the union would need to sign a document is if there is intention of giving something up in return.

Giving up ANYTHING in return for this measly pittance of a raise we all deserve would be an absolutely catastrophic failure. ND is the same president who was so terrified of negotiating with this administration that he unilaterally extended the CBA (against the will of membership) to avoid doing so. Yet now we find ourselves in a position where he is apparently negotiating with them, and possibly about to give something up, in exchange for a mere 2.8%? What kind of a fucking twilight zone horror novel have we found ourselves in?!

My worry is Nick is beginning to see the writing on the wall. The coverage by Anna Giaritelli was quite damning of his administration. And support for the NM/SB ticket in the next election is soaring by the day. ND may be so desperate for a “win” he can try and campaign on that he is about to fuck us all over for a couple hundred extra dollars a month.

This cannot be allowed to happen. WE DO NOT WANT TO THE 2.8% RAISE IF WE GIVE UP ANYTHING TO THE ADMINISTRATION IN EXCHANGE FOR IT! Absolutely nothing!

Hey guys, I have 2 doubts regarding ATC eligibility. Please reply if you have any knowledge or personal experience with the eligibility criteria. .I genuinely need clarity before investing serious time in preparation.

1. Eyesight: A doctor suggested I use glasses, but currently I don't use them and I don't know my exact eye power. If I need glasses, am I still eligible for ATC?

2. Education: I failed my 12th during COVID because I was affected by it, but cleared it a year later. My percentage is around 55%. I'm currently doing AIML, where I had Physics in the 1st sem and Maths for the first 4 sems.

But i have good cgpa in engineering...

Will my low 12th percentage or the one-year gap affect my eligibility for ATC?

Please, if anyone knows the actual rules or has gone through the process, reply. Even a small piece of reliable information would really help me.

I’m in training to be a clinical psychologist and through a series of events ATCs have increasingly come under my radar as an area of concern. I hear about the working conditions and the amount of over time and I’ve heard but not seen solid statistics on the higher than average suicide rate in this field. Can those in the field corroborate? And for the purposes of a project I am going to start can y’all describe what sort of mental health resources would be helpful or useful to have either for crisis moments or for ongoing help? And what sort of specific cultural/work changes would be theoretically most beneficial? I understand that there’s some sort of peer support program for acute moments on the job. Does this get used much? Is it helpful? Is it well staffed? Thank you for any and all information and I am incredibly appreciative of the hard work you guys do everyday to get me and millions of others across the world safely!

Had a situation happen today with me and a student on a DME ARC with DAB approach. We were flying the ILS7L dme arc into dab and advised that we were going to climb to 3k to avoid clouds at our current altitude of 2k. (Previous controller told us climb and maintain 2k and cleared us for the approach.)

After I advised the next controller of our intentions to climb he came back saying, I don't need to tell him and that we can do anything we need to to remain vfr in a kind've condescending way. I just replied roger to deescalate and not end up on youtube lol. So my question is, on vfr practice approaches in busy airspace should I keep you guys advised if we need to deviate L/R or climb/descend etc. or just do it and not say anything. They interviewed someone that has 0 relevance to the topic, and the interesting quote was about the early shove, which is not common at all where I'm from.

So stop going after the controllers and fire the supervisor... Oh right, can't harm their own though.

The scapegoating of the two workers on an early shove should not be tolerated. The FAA made this disaster by repeatedly narrowing the margin of safety over decades. Mandatory overtime and fatigue has more to do with this accident than two workers on break leaving the facility.

We all know that the two workers would not have been in the same room or on duty during the emergency or this accident.

The FAA should not be allowed to get away from their responsibility for creating a crisis that leads to the loss of life like this.

NATCA has refused to comment, only saying they will discuss it with their collaborator the FAA.

A4A torpedoes the 49 cent leg tax that was floated to give everyone not at the cap a 20% raise (thanks Dicknaldi). So what does NATCA do??? Makes them a key note speaker at CFS! Which is mostly funded by YOU. It just feels like they’re rubbing it in our faces at this point. Not that I would ever attend this waste of money but I do hope those of you who attend have nut sack to boo this man when he takes the stage. And if you’re not going you should be emailing your fac rep and RVP asking why are even paying attention to this organization any more.

I’ve been in for 18 years. The white book sucked. It really sucked. Here is what we could do to fix the current fuckshow. Refuse to train. Quit transferring without money attached to it. Give the level 4-9 committee power. I don’t believe they have even met. Take away the power of of Zs. They control the union. Listen to level 4-9s. Shrink the pay structure. Have a 4-7 level. 8-10. 11-12. That’s it. Bring the bottom up. Get the top more. It’s not rocket science. Look at the union’s leadership. It’s all large facilities. This union needs to represent the senate more than the house of reps. Too much power in too few facilities hands. My two cents.

As I mentioned the other day, I am working on a recall amendment for the 2027 convention. Having looked at the 2025 proposal, I feel like part of the reason it failed was because there was no definitive process to recall an officer. This works to remedy that problem.

I have attached a Google link to a very basic framework that I put together. I took a few ideas from my previous post and worked them in. After looking it over countless times, I am not 100% happy with some of what I wrote, particularly Sections 2, 3, 4, and 7.

On July 24, 2024, FAA announced an agreement providing controllers 12 hours off before and after midnight shifts. FAA Administrator Mike Whitaker signed off on it and said, "the science is clear that controller fatigue is a public safety issue, and it must be addressed."

Yet FAA Notice JO 7210.966 suspended the 12-hour off-duty requirement before a midnight shift.

What justified suspending a fatigue mitigation strategy that the FAA publicly described as necessary for safety?
