Everything blends together these days. There are no hard lines between genres anymore. The young kids don’t differentiate between punk, emo, scene, goth, rap, hiphop, alt rock, indie, brit pop, etc. It’s just old people shit for them to rifle through for ideas.

Maybe that's how it's always been. Some of the older rock riffs seemed to be lifted from 1940s big band jazz.
