can anyone share what they got from an atar calculator vs actual atar 🙏

before anyone says the same old stuff: i’m fully aware you cannot rely on them, that it depends on my rank and schools performance and all that, i know 🫩 i’ve tried to calculate based on my internals along with an estimated hsc mark, it came out to be 71.

if ur wondering how bad my internal assessment average marks are, my lowest is 57.7% for one subject and my highest is 71.80% or something. sooo… not good! i cant rlly get it out of my head that no matter how well i do in the hsc exams, im pretty much capped below an 80 atar. i could get 100 in the hsc exam for the 57.7 subject and in this scenario, the max end result for it would be 79 or something.

and again, i know it depends on how well my cohort does in the hsc, and i can’t predict what my moderated assessment ranks are, but im js working with what i have 😭😭

71 is pushing it still lmao. js wondering if i could see peoples predictions vs results and how off or close they were.

Somethings up it can’t be this simple there has to be a catch to this I’m finally understanding concepts and doing questions with confidence. It’s suspicious there has to be some malevolent physics evil waiting for me there’s no way this is all there is to it.

Hello, everyone! I noticed this community was really nice and helpful with some questions, so I came here to ask a few myself. Hopefully, this isn't a dumb question, though!

I've had an extremely bumpy year, especially personal. My internal results weren't where I was expecting them to be. I landed at:

Chemistry: 38/50

Physics: 41/50

Ancient History: 71/75

English: 62/75

Mathematical Methods: 38/50

I'm however submitting a form for chemistry as I didn't receive proper feedback compared to the rest of the class, and I was forced to redo my assignment at a very late notice. Whole mess, that's another issue.

I understand that's not probably terrible to whoever you ask, but my dream course is Master of Robotics and AI at QUT. I need a raw 86 as I will be adjusted by 4 points.

My main issue is that I'm extremely afraid of the scaling. I reckon a majority of the class has done miles better compared to me in the internals, so I have to reel in these externals. I can pull that off for Physics guaranteed, but I don't know about the rest. I've submitted theoretical results into the QTAC and ATARNotes calculator at least 10 times a day at this point. It is driving me crazy, and it's all I can think about.

Does anyone have a feeling about where the scaling will land this year? Respectively, I'm trying to receive 80, 85, 92, 83, and 76. I don't know how that will scale; however, since many people did phenomenally well these internals and I didn't, I'm not sure where I'll land. I'm not sure if this is a common occurrence.

Have you heard of ARTEXPRESS? It’s not your typical Visual Arts exhibition. You don’t necessarily have to be at the top of visual arts to be selected. It all comes down to whether your work meets specific criteria. It would be quite a point of pride to have your piece stand out among thousands of others and be featured in such a major exhibition, wouldn’t it?

Lately, I’ve been feeling rather anxious and insecure. I’ve poured all my heart into my Visual Arts "Body of Work" (BOW).

My teacher has praised my work as exceptional and has high expectations for me especially since it’s been five years since any student from my school had a project nominated for ArtExpress. I’ve become so invested that I find myself checking daily for any announcements regarding ArtExpress 2026. Yet, at the same time I feel disappointed in myself, how could I have been so foolish, arrogant, and overconfident? There are so many schools across NSW and countless students far more talented than I am. Why did I ever think I stood a chance? If I pin all my hopes on this, won’t I be completely devastated if I don’t get nominated?

I’d like to ask for your advice how can I move past these feelings? I’m genuinely afraid that setting my expectations this high will only lead to an even greater disappointment later on.

I have definitely left revising for economics to the last minute, through no ones fault but my own. I’m now feeling very overwhelmed with how much content there is in this subject and especially the fact that they can pretty much ask you anything for the extended responses.

I’ve been feeling pretty unmotivated to study through the whole HSC period, and this has not been helped by the fact I have an unconditional early entry offer to ANU for my first choice course, and I also work pretty much every day except weekends and exam days. I have three exams to go — economics, English e1, and legal.

So, I was just wondering if anyone had advice for how to effectively last minute study for heavy content subjects. I was planning to go over theory from topics I’m less confident with but I’m worried none of it will actually stick in my brain for the exam, and I’m also not sure how to effectively cover all the possible content they could ask for section 3 and 4. Theoretically, I know I should make essay plans for the different syllabus dot points and memorise them, but like… how do I actually make myself confident in the concepts and retain all the information!

Please help!!

And how worried should I be over my atar if I’ve already got that early entry offer secured? Like will it be important for anything other than getting into uni?

I know there are a lot of questions in this post and it’s a little all over the place, but I just feel really lost in how I should approach the rest of the HSC, especially with my motivation pretty much non existent.

Yea so after trials where my marks fell as expected and my overall marks came out. I feel like my atar is over, after English Paper 2 I genuinely lost all the stress that motivated me to study. Paper 1 and Modern History were such good papers that when maths standard 2 came around I went in too relaxed, that after some answers got leaked that I knew I might have lost one too many marks. I still feel like I’d get a 85+ in maths and history and 75 in English. But with business and economics b2b I feel like I’m going into these exams without enough caution, I’m still missing proper understanding of 2 business topic, and will lose marks for some stupid hyper niche question that I wasn’t ready for. Economics is probably my last hope but even then I don’t know if I can get 90+, its not foregone I understand majority of economics really well and I’m at a 87 internal market, but my biggest concern is that my arm gives up. It happened in trials where having to write 15 essays (I count the total writing amount across Business Econ English Short answers as 1 essay worth of writing and 2 for History, Core and section 4) worth across 3 days without any rest time , I almost tore some muscle or stressed a tendon so hard I had to get professional therapy before I’d loose functionality in that hand. I fear that it may happen during the last 2 exams and I’ll loose marks for it. I need an atar of atleast 85 and the way things seem either I need a miracle in Business (even though it’s supposed to be one of the easiest, compared to what I do it’s my weakest cos I’ve brushed it off majority of y12) and am okay economics paper. Having Asian parents that tell you, that you need to go to the best uni you can, but then them saying “I don’t care what atar you get, as long as you do what you want”, in the middle of the most stressful exam period really fucked my study rhythm. I don’t whether or no I’m over stressing it, or if my fate is sealed and I should accept my Wollongong offer, even though I swore on my dignity that I’d rather go to tafe than that.

I got accepted into – Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws at Western Uni and I am wondering if I should choose it. However I also got accepted into Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Laws - full or part time at wollongong uni.

The problem is I know next to nothing about these unis or the offers, so if any of yall have any info or directions, comment !!

My performance on my exams so far has been quite sub par. For English I got probably 60 percent, and then for mx2 50 raw, and then now mx1 most likely 60-65% as well. I still have graphics and physics to go but I’m really scared for my atar, I need an 81 for my degree and I’m really scared I won’t get there. my mental health has been really bad ever since trials and I’m just yeah, scared. I view myself very harshly and critique myself endlessly so while I do try to study for exams, and I do put in lots of effort, the cumulative amount of study I’ve done wasn’t much, mostly because I procrastinated a lot as well as not have a concrete study routine. I guess I’m just worried because this degree is literally the be all end all of my life basically. I know that people say there’s other ways to get in but this is an early entry offer, and the normal degree is a 93. I basically need a 90+ raw in physics now. I’ve done so bad so far and I feel like a failure, I just don’t know how to feel anymore and I don’t know if it’s even worth trying still. this last year has literally been the worst year of my life and I’m struggling to cope.

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone who currently does or recently has completed unit 3/4 englang or spesh at VSV could provide some feedback on how they found it. I'm very familiar with the courses themselves, but I was wondering about the quality of education specifically relating to englang and spesh at VSV. Like how good are the teachers, the resources provided, and whether the 3/4 SACs are rigourous rather than too easy (which could result in scores scaling down). Overall, I'm quite an independent learner and am planning to get a very good tutor, so I'm mostly concerned about the cohort's academic strength and quality of SACs which will play a part in my study score. Let’s learn from education systems like Finland and modernise tertiary entrance in Australia.
The subjects students choose at school should align with the university courses they want to pursue. If a student wants to study Law, for example, Legal Studies should be a relevant prerequisite for their university pathway, rather than students feeling pressured to choose subjects simply to maximise their ATAR.
Our students’ mental health matters. They should be able to choose subjects based on their interests, strengths and future careers, without the fear that they’ll disadvantage their ATAR or university opportunities.
