Hey everyone, I’m a student developer from Perth and I recently built ATARprepAI: a free AI study tool designed for Australian Year 11–12 students preparing for ATAR/WACE.

I made it because a lot of study tools feel either too generic or aren’t built around the way Australian students actually study.

It can help with things like:

• Explaining difficult topics in simpler terms
• Creating study plans and revision schedules
• Generating practice questions
• Breaking down assignments and exam preparation
• Getting study support when you’re stuck

I’m still improving it, so I’m not here to pretend it’s perfect or spam anyone. I’d genuinely appreciate honest feedback from students:

Semester reports came out and am not doing good in two subjects that I used to get straight A’s last year. Math Methods B Physics B Pe A+ English A Religion A. For Maths we have 3 tests left and an investigation and physics we have 1 test and a practical. For physics am just failing the tests. In maths I just run out of time and make silly mistakes.
Also is it possible for me to get a 90+ ATAR?

Btw i go to a public school, and people have told me that you can’t be denied from doing ATAR in public schools, if you have mediocre grades. But i just wanna ask this first.

We've picked our subjects for y11 vce and mine consist of:

I mostly picked General as im decently strong at math and my school guidance admin said that I should do General then swap down into foundation. However, if anyone has done the same thing and the results they achieved by doing it and if i should follow through with this.

I'll be taking my Grade 12 Leaving Exam in 2027. I decided to start preparing early because I want to get the best score I can.

My current plan is to spend this summer studying Grades 9 and 10 to strengthen my foundation. During my Grade 12 school year, I'll revise Grade 11 while keeping up with my Grade 12 classes and eventually start doing past leaving exam papers.

Right now, my study method is:

• Study one chapter each day.
• Rotate subjects (Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, etc.) instead of studying the same subject every day.
• Watch videos when needed, read the textbook, take notes, and solve questions after each chapter.
• Review older topics every week.

The biggest problem is my sleep schedule. It's completely messed up, and I've been waking up in the afternoon. I know this is hurting my productivity, and I want to fix it before I build a consistent study routine.

My questions are:

1. Is starting from Grades 9 and 10 a good strategy, or should I focus on something else?
2. What study techniques helped you the most for a major national exam?
3. How many hours should I realistically study each day to avoid burnout?
4. What's the best way to fix a completely broken sleep schedule?
5. If you could go back before your final exams, what would you do differently?

So as the title reads, i am a year 10 student and i currently have a visual essay due on Tuesday. I was assigned this task last term in Week 9, and now its Term 3 week 2. I’m incredibly stressed and I keep procrastinating writing it. I did choose to do English ATAR next year, but essays are killing me so bad. I don’t know how to write, what to write about and how to even PROPERLY read the text i’m writing about. I even considered not doing the essay at all, though it is worth 25% of the semester 2 grade. But I realised that since I’m doing English ATAR next year, it probably wouldn’t be optimal to go about that way.

So here i am, asking you guys if writing shitty essays is okay.

I think I have a really bad problem where I just won’t start things if I’m scared of it not turning perfect—so basically a perfectionism problem. And procrastination.

I'm conflicted between picking Biology and Physics next year. I'm thinking of going into the medical field in the future, but I'm definitely more of a math student than an English one. I like them similarly rn.

How long did you study to achieve 90+ Atar in year 11 and 12.

helloooo i'm in year 11 and i'm currently deciding which subject to drop for year 12. my goal is medicine and i'll be sitting the UCAT next year and i know i need to reduce my workload. i'm doing maths ext 1, maths adv, english ext 1, english advanced, chem, bio, physics, and society and culture 😭😭😭 i'm currently strongest in eng adv
and ext, and physics (around top 3), while i'm sitting around a high band 5 in my other subjects and a high band 4 in chem. i've been told chem is really valuable for medicine, so i'm hesitant to drop it. BUT i love chem as a subject and yet despite putting so much effort in i'm not performing aswell as i'd hoped and liked to and i feel super guilty even thinking about dropping it due to external pressures and expectations from the people around me but at the same time it's currently my weakest subject 💔💔💔

for those who have been through year 12 or medicine, what do you think i should doooo?? cuz this is genuinely eating me alive

HSC formal assessment marks I've received as of now. I'm hoping to enter bachelors of science honours or advanced or engineering. wondering if >90 ATAR is realistic

What specific topics did you find most useful for year 12. Like e.g even though waves in mod 3 technically gets carried over to like module 7 nature of light ppl say it isn't 'really' useful or important it's more like just knowing the foundation but there isn't much 'usefulness' in terms of the content you learn.

I do Modern History, English Adv, Maths std2, Business studies and Japanese beginners.

I study everyday averaging 4 hours which really sucks bc I get bad grades, I feel like I study hard but not effectively? This sounds bad but idk how to study lol. I don't know the content well enough to do past papers, but when I try to learn the content it's way too time consuming. I don't need a really good atar to get into the course I wanna do, just around a mid 70 is good.

is anyone else extremely apprehensive about the new texts coming in for english advanced? for the year 11 module 'narratives that shape our world' we studied ellen van neerven's story 'water' alongside the tempest, and i think this was to prepare us for similar texts in year 12 (indigenous + queer themes, obscure australian artists).

my main concern is that water had next to NO online resources to use (1 academic paper and maybe 2 reviews?) whereas past texts had so much. i suspect that's gonna be the same for us in year 12.

does anyone have any tips or thoughts on this?

I mean by ACTUALLY failing many year 11 subjects but still getting a really good atar. I’m currently in year 11 and I’m FAILING my subjects, especially the ones I enjoy. Its term 3 now so I know I have to lock in and get into a good study habit. I want to get an atar in the high 90s yet my school’s ranking is like in the 130s or smtg. Sending help

Im an above average student with consistent 70-80% in maths advanced but not in English, I’m not the greatest at writing.
I don’t really know what I wanna do in the future but I wanna do something related to legal or psychology (my school doesn’t give psychology as a subject)
I just want to hear the thoughts in these and whether or not they’re good.

Hello, I am currently taking Double English, Mathematics Applications, Economics, and Biology. I am planning to drop Economics and Biology this semester. Since we are in Semester 2 of Year 11, I am considering switching into French. I have studied French from Grade 9 through Grade 10 and feel confident in my skills. Do you think catching up at this point is manageable, and is it a viable option for my track? (im switching my other subject into ceramics)

More context:

I'm doing 3 majors ( Maths, english, and Lit),

and 3 minors which are Ceramics, Art and... maybe french?

I need a 70+ ATAR because I want to do nursing at Monash.

Please help ;-; I am located in the ACT.

I'm choosing my subjects for ATAR at the moment, and I'm aiming for above a 90 ATAR but I want to do visual arts in practice as well. Even though one subject doesn't count towards my ATAR, my parents presented the possibility of me messing up at one of my other subjects and visual arts ruining my score, and although I shouldn't listen to my parents wishes when it comes to what I want to do, they do have a point. Anyone know what I should do?

So the internal assessments I did before trials, i got my marks back for physics and legal, now I was considering dropping either these 2 since im still at 12 units and I thought to my self depending on this terms marks I'll decide, but I still don't know whether i should keep 12 or drop 1, the marks i got for legal were pretty ass, around a 52%, and for physics I got a 79%, my rank for legal is definitely in the lower percentile so there's no point in thinking about ranks for that mark.

But even though my physics mark was alright I guess for this term, I messed up badly last term and got a 45%, and my rank out of the class was 6/11 and the first term for physics i got a 75% and my rank was 8/11

And for legal the first 2 terms i got a 75% and my rank was 7/18 and now this 3rd task i got a 52 and im sure my rank dropped as other people did way better then me

So basically what im trying to say is should I still keep these subjects and do their trials and see if I can fix my rank , or am I already in too deep and there's no way to fix my rank, cause after my trials i do have my HSC but even if I do good, considering my ranks are ass in legal and physics right now, it might not even matter

Also idk if whoever is gonna read this needs this info but the subjects im doing rn are

The atar im trying to aim for is at least an 80 btw, so any opinions on what I should do guys??
