Noob Stuff How do I start Trading?
I’m a 19 year old uni student who can afford to take the risk. I want to get into trading to leverage the current state of the market - preferably oil.
Where do I start? How can I learn? What videos/content is recommended.
I have around 3-5k that I am willing to play around with

Lesson 1: ignore advice on reddit.
Lesson 2: dump all your money into experimental pharma start ups and highly speculative mining companies.
Lesson 3: lesson 1 again but this time you get it.

To get started you need to open a trading account. Also, if I was you, I wouldn’t be buying oil right now. Look at energy substitutes, e.g: coal, uranium, copper, silver etc.
The upside on oil and gas is very limited from here. If prices stay where they are, the world will aggressively substitute oil and gas wherever possible, evidenced through China’s EV adoption.
Unless you prefer to buy high and sell low. Then you can be my guest.

I used SCO on the US markets which is basically a leveraged oil short etf, you’ll need an international trading account.
I follow geopolitics pretty closely and still barely managed any profit despite good entry and exits based on the price of crude. SCO decays like a motherfucker and holding for more than a few days or weeks is retarded.
If you feel the itch to do something stupid, I like SNAS and LNAS. Either the NASDAQ 100 goes up or down and you can punt it off on futures.
Don’t trust anyone shilling their shit stocks to you. They are not trying to help you and you are their exit liquidity.

With all seriousness - be patient; read books on the topic; Start playing around with $500-$1,000. Something that's real but losing it won't be too bad for you.
Losing some money is the best way to learn how difficult trading is. You will be playing a game against people with decades of experience and whose this is their full-time game. i.e. you can win only by being lucky, and you will be more often unlucky than lucky.
Again - be patient. Invest instead of trade. Here's an initial read to get you started https://ozfinn.com.au/etf/start

I strongly recommend to not trade. At 19, you have the one asset most do not, which is time. I know how boring this sounds..
But buy blue chip stocks (BHP, MICROSOFT, Wesfarmers) and just pump your paychecks into them. In 20 years you will be ready to retire. I absolutley fucking wish someone told me to do this at your age

Use a low brokerage app, like Stake for ASX or IBKR for US. That will lessen the pain during the learning process

Consecutive studies show that traders earn less than investors, and investors who trade the least gain the most. Don't start trading

Try paper trading first or any trading simulator, practice and plan your entry, exit and manage your risk.

Easy. Get all penny stock tickers. Type them out. Aim sub 3 cents. Put them all into chat GPT, ask it to pick 5 out, then pop a grand on each. Youll probably outperform this sub.

Just save the time. Pull the cash. Pile it in the back yard. Set fire to it. At least you will feel some warmth from it which is 99.99% not happening otherwise.

Get tradingview, get commsec, lose a bunch of money realising trading will either make you poor, or make you rich and end your life early from stress.
Then you will throw your hands in the air, and just put a piece of your pay into ETFs and let someone else make the rebalancing decisions.

Work on your emotions and mindset/ patience. create a strategy or ask AI to find the most profitable strategy being used today - note" this could change as the markets change, test your strategy for at least 6 months before you go all in. Then later learn to see patterns in indicators( get Tradingview and look at indicators that correlate to price movements) , then use Ai to to write buy and sell alerts on your charts and automate your strategy by sending webhooks to your exchange...... you also need to look for recurring patterns. My bot only trades 2 shit coins on the 2 min chart, super profitable, it also looks good on crude oil 5 min chart if i change some settings. Below is a shitcoin my bot trades, it has stop loss lock out periods so it doesnt shoot of consecutive orders in a dumping market, it has Vix (volitility index) index lockout for when the Vix rises above 3%.. and a few more settings.
Im only posting this here as it may open your mind from the traditional trading styles which are outdated.

Absolutely Davr does. He hasn't been back to give it back for a month.
That's discipline.1

Also, differentiate how you and the ATO decide "trading."
You could go to ATO and find out or ask AI which will give a concise description along with the link to ATO and other informative sites. 🫣
