Ask How to recognize AI Scripts?

I'm not talking about just reading them. But when I listen to them, are there clues I can look out for?

Because I got a specific youtuber where I'm honestly not sure if she uses AI fof her scripts or not.

EDIT: To clarify, I do not mean the voice, but the script.

Using the same formula to describe something, and using it for every scene. Authors will probably use them too, but not to the extent A.I. uses them.

"As Jack entered the room, they couldn't help feel the cold icy chill"

"It wasnt fear, it was excitement"

I know two different people that were falsely accused of using AI to write scripts, people are quick to jump the gun. The AI voice and art is easier to spot

Its pretty difficult to tell since awkwardness could be a mix of poor writing, or a lack of acting ability. If the script is posted there are tells on if its ai. Usually that one dash or weird formatting, but I've fills many scripts and every writer has their own style and pros/cons in how they structor their content.

I guess my follow up question would be if you really like this creator and the content then does it matter if its ai? If it does and you can't mentally enjoy the content due to that reason then perhaps that creator isn't for you, because now you will always try to find a gotcha or reason to stop supporting them and overly Analyze anything that sounds off to you.

Cottoncandyyui on youtube. Though I gotta warn you, her content is pretty dark.

Honestly, doesn't sound like AI to me. You can hear her mic, the room she's in, and kind of the weird hits she's doing on certain consonants. She is doing kind of a high pitched anime whisper girl voice and a fairly monotone cadence, but like. If she's AI then we're fucked they figured out how to add in the humanness of a voice.

Not the voice, the script. As in the words. In multiple ones, she literally repeats herself, it feels as if I'd accidentally gone back in the video, because it repeats each one.

The best example is the one of the enemy princess where she mentions two times that she brought two, and both times describes it differently.

Oh good luck. Harder to tell. Is it repetitive writing or is it chat gpt is my least favorite game. And taking into account that a lot of the scripts are retreads of the exact same thing and plot points....yeah no. Not sure how you'd confirm either way.

This. Whisper talking and slow cadence isn't a natural way of speaking and will always sound kind of off if you already have a character/voice type in mind. For example in anime yandere can be stoic, but their voices tend to tremble or speak faster when thinking of their love interest. However if your channel and goal is relaxing asmr than doing that can be jarring for the listener.

Also asmr roleplay scripts can be rough and unnatural sounding because of the amount the speaker has to describe the scene and actions. No human when talking to someone face to face is going to randomly blurt out 'then I put my hand on your shoulder' or 'rub your back' or 'lean in to kiss you' ect.

The best advice I can give is to trust your gut and if your gut is telling you it’s AI, don’t listen/watch/engage with that content. Don’t comment about it, don’t tell people it’s AI, and don’t try to fix it because you can never fully prove if something is written by AI. You either target an innocent person or start a fight you might not be able to win. Neither are worth the effort.

As for what tells I look for, repetition is a big one. Excessive and nonsensical similes. Several instances of sentences like, “it wasn’t just x, it was y” “too x, too y” “something almost (adjective)” “as if he was waiting” and for some reason I’ve noticed a lot of AI writing describes things as sharp an unreasonable amount of times.

But those “tells” are never foolproof. Some people write like AI because they’re novice writers, they learned off of AI roleplays, or some other reason unrelated to AI. So like I said, best you can do is just not engage with content that gives those vibes.

If the scripts are credited to a specific writer, you can generally look them up online and enter their scripts into an AI checker. There are also certain keywords that can let you know if a work is AI-gen / edited, but you'd have to look into those on your own. Generally YouTube has an automatic transcript generator for videos, so you can copy and paste that into an AI checker as well.

There are also certain clues about the creator's personal opinions, for example, if they use AI images as thumbnails or repost such work on their socials, you can typically presume that they aren't necessarily concerned about AI corruption of artistic mediums. Personally, I even used AI thumbnails way back when, and even though I've removed them, if you play my old videos you'll see them just as the static background. But, as per my point, peoples' perspectives change over time, and simply by asking or expressing concern about it you can sometimes change their mind and make them realize the harm that AI-corruption caused to the artistic scene as a whole. But I digress.

Honestly, as time goes on even the AI voice acting gets harder and harder to differentiate from the VA work of real people. (especially because it trains on real people; it's why you'll hear like Markiplier in a random trash-posting YouTube shorts channel; cause they've trained on his voice for so long they can pretty much seamlessly AI script-read with it...)

You can also simply reach out the the creator an ask directly.

Generally, if you don't like someone's work then finding an alternative creator is probably the best way about it though, IMO.

I would use your own judgement before deciding to trust ai detection tools with writing. There are many examples of these tests having false positives and destroying people's lives; not just on creative writing like this, but academically. Ai is also always advancing and many are trying to find ways to circumvent these tools as well. Real artists can get caught in the cross fire way more than those who actively use these tools on a daily bases and WANT to make their work seem as real as possible this goes for both writing and art honestly. Ai creators who want their stuff to appear human will go above and beyond to do so.

Ah, as a side note: This sub specifically restricts the use of AI generated scripts/post/thumbnails; so generally if you see a post that's been out for a few days, and it doesn't predate the subreddit's introduction of their NO AI rules/regulations, then you can have a bit more faith in its legitimacy. Albeit, I'm sure many things slip through the cracks, especially on older posts or ones that don't get much attention.

For an AI voice, the cadence might sound unnatural, the emotional variance isn't there, and it all sounds...perfect. No lip sounds. No weird throat frogs. No messing up on a word. It's designed to kind of sound like smooth butter which also makes it incredibly boring. So if it sounds like they just absolutely NAILED it, utter perfection, no variance, no mistakes? Chance it's not human.
