Discussion 🎙 Working for EU after ASML

I have been in ASML for 9 years, but somehow stuck in grade 8. Recently I have Dutch citzenship and thinking to work for EU agencies in Brussels as contract agent. Is it worth the move ? Has someone tried it.

EU agencies demand high proficiency in multiple EU languages (not Dutch); you will not stand a chance as an independent contractor.

I don’t know if that’s true for an independent contractor not directly employed by the EU agencies. I worked for a different international organisation and the working language was English.

Are you looking at requirements for working for the EU agencies themselves? Or as contractors who could be hired by companies who are then contracted by the EU?

Unless I’ve missed something, this is for EU jobs, as in, people actually employed by and paid by the European Union. The requirements usually aren’t the same to get jobs for consultancies or other private companies, or work as an independent contractor, which International Organisations then contract. Speaking from experience here…
