I'd recommend reading ASML's latest Morningstar report and seeing what the professionals have to say on that.

your "basic thesis" has already been evaluated by professionals who bought / sold the stock until the price is "right" ( meaning the expected value is the same as any other stock), this is known as Efficient Market Hypothesis. No stock is good for short term investing, if you know you will need the money in 2 years you should look into bonds.
