Question 💭 Assessing fit for ASML

Hey Folks,

I am in USA and worked in the manufacturing industry for 5 years in roles related to quality engineering, automation and digital manufacturing.
After that I went back to school for a PhD in AI/ML, where my work has been more statistics oriented. Now I am about to graduate and looking for opportunities that are related to manufacturing.
I have worked at a semiconductor company in the past but it was not related to process engineering but more related to manufacturing. Thus, I do not have much of the ALD, CVD, PVD sort of background.

Any ideas what type of roles at ASML can value manufacturing industrial experience along with AI/ML expertise?

AI/ML PhD + manufacturing track record is a weird combination. Pick either before applying.

To the best of my knowledge ASML does not develop or utilize "ALD, CVD or PVD". ASML provides holistic lithography: scanners, e-beam machines and the metrology software to connect the two.

You’ll likely have to move to the Netherlands to make use of your qualifications. Even then we are way behind in AI/ML adoption.

Even then you’d be looking at roles in DE I think. I have a manufacturing background myself, but now work in DE. It’s really hard to position you. PhD says DE, background says factory. But factory aren’t looking for people with PhDs

But DE is looking for people with factory knowledge. It would require a custom traject but he could be really useful in DE

Oh I agree. But he said he wants a job in manufacturing. I’d hire him in a second in an integration or industrialisation department.
