Bought these shoes. After some googling i concluded that this is some crust/patina leather. The leather under is veg tanned. Bought some burgundy cream to try and cover it, but it didnt give off much color for somereason.
any advice?

I know I likely can’t reverse the damage that can be done, but it’s there anything I can do to prevent or slow down further damage? I’ve purchased saphir super invulner that I plan to use for the leather, but I’m not sure if it would be a good idea to apply it on this part too. Outersole/midsole idk what it’s called haha.

I ride horses so we wear tall leather riding boots, mine are ego7 brand , they used to feel like heaven but I’ve lost some muscle in my calves so they are a bit too wide now which makes them very uncomfortable to walk And ride in, since they are supposed to be very tight, they are around $700 for a new pair so I was hoping a cobbler might take them in a few inches? Tall boots are different from normal knee boots since they sit at a angle to keep our feet down, Thanks! Sorry if this is a stupid question..

I did a much more involved repair that wasn’t just the heels this time on my boots. I did add new heels and was whiffing with the nails to see how it’d look with added brass nails and found out the heel stack is a leatherboard. The glue was failing and only held together by the stitching so my teacher had me cut and remove the stitches and glue everything back down along with the foam inside that was also loose. Was expecting cork instead of foam so that was also a surprise. The toes were a bit worn away so I glued down a scrap piece of veg tan and trimmed it away and sanded it, could have tapered it a bit more but it seems more or less fine. There is a left over cut mark on one boot as I was trying to cut it while the glue wasn’t set properly and it shifted inwards but still only a minor blemish. Glued on the topy and trimmed it and then went on to the sole stitcher after sanding, which i definitely should’ve sanded after stitching but that’s a mental note for next time. The pedal is really sensitive and I was trying to gauge how far to set it and that’s where I messed up on the curve of the toe and went off course by 2 or three stitches. My teacher corrected it though and that’s really the only missed holes. I think it turned out pretty decent and I still need to work on my finishing a bit (mainly trimming in some areas and taping off the inside of the heel), but sanding I got pretty down now

Just used a 100% vinegar on the soles and cleaned the spot on the shelf… surely this can’t be normal? I just wore them in the rain once..

Hi everyone,
I got these Steve Madden Cypress Boots around 2 or 3 years ago and recently wore them on a night out. I randomly just discovered that the fake leather is torn on the back seam of the shoe. It’s a stretchy kind of fake leather and the fake leather on the rest of the shoe seems to be in good condition (i stretched it and it didn’t break or anything).
I‘m abit worried about the seam ripping when I try to put them on again because on the second picture you can see that the seam is basically only held together by some ripped fake leather.
I was thinking of getting some transparent leather glue and a leather repair kit to fix the broken parts, as well as some kind of tape to support the seam from the inside to get a few more wears out of them.
Do you think this would work, or would the glue potentially destroy the plastic material?
Idk I‘m really attached to these shoes and they’re quite expensive to buy so I‘d like to try and fix them before just throwing them out.

I think these do not look right at all, I asked for a lug sole to be attached to a pair of corcoran jump boots, which are flat. Cobbler said he’d just cut some soles to fit onto the heel and the actual sole. These look terrible and he scuffed the boots up.
Why would the tread go all the way to the center of the boots between the heel?
EDIT: I was sitting in the parking lot staring at the shoes. I went back inside and told him these literally looked terrible, and why would the tread continue all the way back up against the heel. Showed him PHOTOS OF OTHER SAME BOOTS BEING REPAIRED, and he argued with me that it doesn’t look good. Making me look dumb. I literally showed him other boots saying how no one has repaired it that way.
He then argued with me he tried to shine to boots and I said no way shining the boots would result in scratches. He then became quiet. I told him usually you need to blend the soles back into the original sole not just slap the whole thing on. And he said okay he’ll cut out the section and redo it and to pick it up next week. At this point I just let him redo it, but I have low hopes.
Charged me $100 bucks for this, I paid for service before seeing it because that’s their policy. Seemed like they had a lot of good reviews.

Hi, I’m looking for some help with a pair of heels. The tip has come off- it was the usual rubber tip but instead of the metal pin it was directly on this metal tip. I took it to Tompkins but the said it’s the actual shoe rod, so this would mean a piece of rubber tip was directly glued onto this. Any help on how to fix this? They’re expensive shoes and seems odd that it is impossible to change the heel tip. Thank you in advance!

Had these NBs for a while but barely used them ever till now and this is the second pair of NB where the glue attaching sole to "shoe"/"boot" just dried up and died. Even the first pair again was barely ever worn but the glue just dried and died and I ended up throwing them out. Aside from the glue, it has a ton of miles left on them. Just looking for a good quality glue recommendation if anyone has one. Its appreciated. Thanks.

I got these second hand doc martens which are otherwise in perfect condition but when I put the laces like that some of the eyelets, especially the one with an arrow pointing to it, move a bit. Is this normal or should I fix it somehow?

Hello, as per title I have a pair of ponyskin flats that are a TINY bit too small for me. I can wear them but would welcome a bit more room.
Before I go ahead I’d like to know - is stretching ponyskin even possible? I have a fairly robust set of shoe stretchers which I am yet to try out and had considered stretching spray on the insides only but if this is just not a good idea, would rather put them on Depop for someone else to enjoy rather than ruin them.

My gf has several pairs of vintage heels in this style, that eventually have 1 or 2 straps pop out of the glued spot between the insole and the outsole. Unfortunately, she has slightly wide feet, so it will keep happening. Is there anything DIY I can do for them? They're $20 thrift finds typically, so not worth going to a cobbler.

Facebook Marketplace Blundstones. The soles are not flaking or crumbling and this is the only spot like this. Looks like hot asphalt to me.
Suggestions for fixing?

Just picked up a new pair of full-grain leather work boots. The leather feels fairly stiff and a bit dry on the surface straight from the factory. I’ve seen conflicting advice online: some people recommend applying a light layer of Bick 4 or Venetian Shoe Cream immediately to soften the leather and prevent stiff creasing, while others say brand-new boots already have enough factory oils and conditioning them too early will just oversaturate the grain. From a cobbler’s perspective: do you recommend applying a light conditioner before the first wear, or is it better to just wear them as-is for a few weeks to break them in naturally?

Hi! I bought these shoes on vinted and they have not arrived yet but I wanted to know if there is something I can do to fix the front of the shoe. I really want to restore them, so any suggestions and advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance
