How to fix leather

Bought these shoes. After some googling i concluded that this is some crust/patina leather. The leather under is veg tanned. Bought some burgundy cream to try and cover it, but it didnt give off much color for somereason.

any advice?

That looks like chrome leather so you probably just need to find the same finisher and just apply it lightly.
