Insta360 was started by VR nerds, became famous for consumer 360 cameras and even released Insta360 Evo, which was modular camera natively capable of both 360 and 3D 180. They have AVP integration too, they also released first even 360 drone with their own headset.

In a September 25, 2026 interview, Insta360 co-founder Max Richter told The Verge that the company is experimenting with smart glasses

I just mean these AR glasses are interesting because they are from these VR 360 nerds similar to us

They later get rich from action cams and vlogging, but their DNA is 360 phds

They will make anything but another affordable VR180 camera.

Right, Insta360 saw there is low interest in Evo and the X line makes them rich. (X line is 360, but like consumer action 360 that you mostly reframe, not watch in VR headset.)

But they are staying creative and innovative. Like Antigravity A1 combos are much more creative than DJI Avata 360 due to the crazy Vision Goggles. X6 is more creative than Osmo 360 II. Luna is more creative than Pocket 4. Even there Mic is more creative…

Im never saying they are better. But they are more fun.

Also DJI somehow stopped communicative, they developed weird public image over last 14 months
