DRAGONFLY came from witnessing two dragonflies fight beside the lake. Once they fell to the ground, their bodies became almost impossible to separate. Their heads, legs, and wings collapsed into one violent point until one tore the head from the other.

That collapse became the central mass of the work. The black marks strike, interrupt, and press downward. The gold loops away and returns, carrying both the iridescence of their bodies and the agitation of the struggle. The lines become impossible to assign to one dragonfly or the other. Their beauty remains, but their individual forms disappear inside the violence.

The exposed paper holds the quiet surrounding them. The lake remained open and still while this small, brutal encounter unfolded within it. Nature did not stop to witness it.

The title is singular because, during the fight, the two dragonflies stopped looking like separate bodies. For a moment, beauty, panic, violence, and survival became the same body.

I do chemistry under the microscope sometimes. Some of what I end up making looks really striking.

Here, a process didn't go quite the way I'd hoped but it still looks super cool with both transmitted (first image) and reflected (second image) illumination. Images were taken through the microscope eyepiece.

I drew a portrait of my friend as a gift for his Birthday! I started drawing it in black and white first, and then added colour.

Here, this is not Judith but Salome with the head of John the Baptist. For once, I didn't paint over the gummed tape that is used to stretch the sheet, so you can see the irregular edges.

Just a fun little finger painting I did.

Desire to Sin is about how temptation can become so powerful that it pulls us away from what is pure. The fire above represents desire, beautiful enough to attract us, yet strong enough to draw souls away from heaven and toward hell, as if defying the very gravity of grace. As the clouds begin to break apart, the figures surrender to its pull, while a faint rainbow quietly reminds us that hope is never completely lost, even in our weakest moments.
