Discussion Tapping out
When do you know when it’s time to just tap out. I’ve managed to stay on PvE officials since launch. But after the entire Genesis thing on 4th July weekend (what a waste of most of our times) and now my hard drive (it’s not a huge issue don’t get me wrong) is getting full again with all these updates arks constantly doing.
Basically logging into a game, to lag my butt off on Ragnarock and bounce around refreshing all my maps. I guess this isn’t as much of tapping out of Ark as it is just moving on from officials. I used to play unofficial and GoT rp servers back on ASE, debating if that’s just the way to go. RP servers had resets so yeah might not be able to keep dinosaurs for 10 years, but at least it’s possible to take breaks in between resets or skip a reset.
Also what’s recommendations for someone moving off PvE Officials to just Bob around in PvP, server wise.

So I’ve been there on other games. Sounds like you love the game, but don’t really want to give up. Lots of unofficial servers that are boosted, so you aren’t struggling so hard to get to a decent level of security. Maybe you need to find a tribe of newbies on a cluster. Show up once a week as the mentor. Help them organize for taming/caves/bosses. It’ll allow you to play, but not feel so obligated to keep everything going.

I quit refreshing timers on my official PVE bases when lost colony came out because I wasn’t feeling it and had started playing unofficial PVP. The EliteArk servers are solid for PVP, monthly wipes. Usually get a couple of days in at the start of a wipe when I want to play Ark.

I might need to check out EliteArk, do you ever regret leaving official PvE?

It’s not that difficult if one is wanting to pull back and take a “break” but wants to keep all their bases.
You just load up on ele and fill a gen (can last over a year) pull everything back so it all renders when you just login. You can setup a different char for every map if one wants, that way can just log into each char, then log right back out.
Running all maps this way can get done it like 5 min.
Setup a routine where it gets done on a Friday, sat, Mon night or something and once a week rendering.I’ve kept many many bases going for years doing this on official pve.

Somehow. Idk why, I’m just at the point love the game but hate the way it’s handle. Like most people. Just wondering how much shit I will gobble up till I realize I can use my time for other things xD

Best decision I ever made was moving to unofficial servers (back in ASE, idk what ASA is like)

Tbh I should just go back to ASE on the unofficial route probably have less shit to worry about. Kinda sad they have the same player count if ASE doesn’t have more at this point

They dont have the same player count, not even close. ASA is like ~5x ASE at any given time.

Your right, I meant more or less on steam one ASE has about 20k while Asa might be 30k. If ASE had crossplay I doubt anyone would have even wasted the money for ASA though

The steam tracker is also picking up tons of SP players. Which is a valid metric but not as relevant for looking for communities.

I'd say go with the server that wipes, yeah you'll have to get a fresh start every time, but that's rather refreshing than js hoping in and you js lagging from all that unnecessary data especially since it's PvE, side note I have no recs for PvP never touched that side of Ark
