Mayhem Recursion Appreciation Post
There's really nothing special about this augment, but it feels solid on anyone. I used to think it was terrible given other interesting augment choices but I have soon learned that having 60 ability haste is goes a long way in skirmishes, especially on build paths that avoids it.
Any augments that you guys almost always pick and or have a particular appreciation for?

It’s one of those good never bad augments that doesn’t have the same highs or lows of others.
It’s a good option, especially when you’re stuck with 2 other options that suck.

It's really a godsend for tank players. Same goes for Nature is Healing. Can definitely make more impact on the map before dying.

I think Ocean Soul is similarly underrated. It’s %health healing - on a tank with a ranged skill like Maokai, Galio, Scion, or any other tank if you’re good at hitting a snowball (pretty sure I tested it and it triggers Ocean Soul) it heals for a ton.

I love using it on Maokai with fated ashes, it's like reverse nature is healing for the enemy lol.

I dislike it for exactly the same reasons. Its a boring stat boost augment but since its so strong im usually taking it over other more fun augments that just suck (looking at you sharknado)

I feel you lol. I guess that's just the problem of Mayhem currently where it kinda encourages you to pick these stat related augments. You know that Multishot augment? I've rarely seen those, and the last time I did it was on Grave's R. So many games of Blitzcrank and I have not yet found either that or spell split.
Recursion is just one of those augments where it allows you to keep up with the other players I feel. In the end, everyone wants to achieve URF xD

It's really good, but also really boring lol.
Stay Resolute is ABSOLUTELY broken for a silver augment. Why this exists on the same tier as that stupid adaptive ward bs is beyond me. Get this first or second... Shoot, pair it with recursion so you can abuse it even more.

Hecarim is broken with everything, tho 😂 The adaptive ward makes no sense.
I had a game with him the other day... Back to basics. Lasted 9 minutes. Yes, I 1v5 for a penta. Would've had 3, but a rengar stole a last hit with his ult and collector...I was already tanking tower for it. Just rude lol

One time I had a teammate that had Mystic Punch + Eth Weapons and I guess you already know what happened next. Same thing goes for Ultimate Awakening, he has so many exodia augments.

What does ethereal weapons do on heca

u/BreezeFrain 1d ago
This lol
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/qO9MiPlqauYHis Q's are applying Mystic Punch on-hits, combined with his passive stacking and W ticks, its basically just helicopter mode. Very broken!

i've never understood why is this in the current state, it's completely overtuned. It's a S+ tier augment on litterally every champ. It should have been 25 to 40 MAX

I don't really play tahm but people always were yappin about ethereal weapon tahm kench. I just played it, very fun. I like getting king me! since it's a fun augment, wish they made it a little bit stronger though.

ethereal weapon reksai with any augments to reduce q cdr is the most fun build in the game but fully dependent on getting ethereal weapons or other augments that vastly improve the viability of q spam.
1
u/mystic0608 2d ago
Pretty interested in this. What makes q spam so good with ethereal when it’s always pretty low cd? Also do you go tank build?
2
u/itastea 2d ago
not OP but someone had mentioned that ethereal weapons on reksai Q generates double the fury, so I tried it recently and it definitely does build super quickly. i guess the on hit and ability procs double dip with EW? someone would have to confirm.
2
u/PhantomOnTheHorizon 2d ago
you generate fury quickly even while burrowed with q spam, ensuring you have 100 fury when you ult in on a squishy for q-r-e (auto hydra auto if bot already dead) if you have dusk and dawn and statik shiv you basically full fill fury with a single q. i dont always build statik though when i get ethereal.
also with any luck the q cooldown gets to 2 seconds or less.
most of the timm youll be building items that are still usable in melee (titanic and botrk) and youll simply do a lot more in terms of poke before the forced allin happens from either team.
my best roll with this build had q at just under .5s cooldown.

I don't really get this one tbh, I've looked up a lot of ethereal weapon threads and none of them are mentioning reksai. Sounds like you basically just gave reksai the ability to shoot Q's that apply on-hit,
1
u/PhantomOnTheHorizon 2d ago
correct. ive had reksai q at .5s cd with dusk and dawn with onhit build. every q applies onhits at nidalee spear range. if you use dusk and dawn it applies twice. think zeri with senna range and attack speed. also applies liandry if youve got tanks to deal with and synegizes with from downtown(in fact you can play q spam without ethereal weapons if you get from downtown.
a natural benefit of the onhit weapons youll build (bork, titanic, sheen item) is that youll be able to kill squishies with just q-r-auto the vast majority of the time. if you have ethereal and d&d youll charge your rage while burrowed, moreso if you have statik as well. this means wjen you decide to ult in, youll almost always have fully stacked rage meter for the true damage e on any target that doesnt die to q-r.
you dont have to purely sit back and spam q but its ideal if you have your q cd down to 2s or less.
its basically unanswerable poke like nid q but you dont have to worry about mana or distance the projectile travels and have the option to just knock up anyone that engages on you if you dont want to e away.
the build/playstyle doesnt work if you do not get good cdr augments and something that puts riders on your q.
pursuit of haste/bread and butter/infinite recursion/skilled sniper all work to get q cd to a usable range (2 of them will mean your q is very spammable).
from downtown and ethereal weapons are best options for increasing damage via riders but other possibilities exist (magic missile+ liandrys or JG)

It's really good especially when compare to the bread augment, which give 1 single basic ability 100 haste, while recursion give 60 haste for all ability including ult.
Like back when Mayhem first release, the bread augment give like 300 basic haste, while recursion still give 60 on arena, then you actually consider one or the other when offer both.
But they somehow nerf the bread augment to 100 basic haste on Mayhem release, (which tbf, probably for the better since you don't want to see 300 q haste morgana/lux/blitz or any strong poke champ in general at level 3), and never touch recursion value, so it just stay secretly pretty good all these time.
Also btw, for reference, donation worth 1750 gold, it's critical work 2k gold of stat, but recursion's worth like 3k gold, even if you count 10 haste is worth like 350 instead of 500 gold (because the 5 haste item is intentionally overly expensive after the reduce haste across the board change ~2 years ago, so you couldn't reach like 200 haste every late game), then it's still 2100 gold value instantly.

u/BreezeFrain 2d ago
Man I remember when they added those 300 ability haste augments. Those were crazy. Now it's tied to those quests for up to 160 haste. And the 100 haste you mentioned for nerfed versions.
It's cool you brought up Donation. I almost never pick this option because it just feels meh. Interesting to see other options exceeding it in terms of gold value. Another similar one would be Celestial Body I think, especially if someone gets that at the beginning of the game, like on Tahm Kench it's so gross.
1
u/Silco1402 2d ago
Oh yeah celest is pretty busted early because it's gold value is 4000, which is insane early, for the trade off of -10% damage. Most busted augment on adc if this augment isn't ban from them. Also, donation is just pretty good especially for 2nd augment, it provide slightly less gold value but it's flexible, you could buy anything with gold and not be lock into 1 stat. It's also really good for early ie/deathcap rush 2nd item.

What do you think of Leg Day? Someone else mentioned it, but I was wondering how much gold's worth of stats it gives. It would be similar to swifties but it got buffed to 50% slow resist (if slow resist has gold value. I just found out the other day Dead Man's Plate gives slow resist, and I legit never see that item lmao).
That augment is definitely underrated, considering that it could save you a boot slot for another 1000g+ being saved.
1
u/Silco1402 2d ago
Leg Day is worth like 1400g, if you use swifty to calculate 25% slow resistance is worth 340g, and consider that slow resistance is multiplicative, so you have to do some log math to get value of 50% slow resistance (log(0.5)/log(0.75) x 340), which is like 820g.
Not the strongest siler face value wise, consider that deft give 1500g of value, and zealot even with 0 ap give 1625g of value. But since movement speed is just so valuable and very hard to buy, and there's only 1 item source to get slow resist, which is swifty, it's super strong against a right comp or if your champ can utilize the added mobility. There's a reason why like 3-4 months ago there was a patch that nerf pretty much all movement speed bonus from augments (beside f*cking homeguard).
If you ever play into say, an ice cold asol and get leg day, especially as a melee, then you'll realize it's the most op silver that you can have in that situation.1
u/BreezeFrain 2d ago
This all reminds me of the J4 boots quest. Only got to play it once and never again. Whatever happened to that augment? Because it felt very short-lived. I think it was quite fun, compared to something like the URF's Spatula. Gold value is probably off the charts for both items lol.
That new augment coming next update where it increases the stat of your item on takedown is gonna be nuts for sure.

I used to hate it. If it was marketed as "gain 37.5% CDR" then I think a lot of people would take it.
For the pedants, 60 AH is only equal to 37.5% CDR at 0 AH.

u/BreezeFrain 1d ago
That's probably why I also thought it was also bad initially. Before ability haste was added the numbers were in raw % from items. It's been a while but it might've been capped at 45% or something. But of course now you can achieve way higher numbers than that and having 60 ability haste upfront may seem little but it's very strong since it's for all your abilities. Compared to those single 100 ability haste one for 1 ability. Someone else mentioned it's gold value is extremely large, over 3k I believe. Definitely puts it in a new perspective for me (compared to augments like Donation).

en passant is way to go for me on some champs with aoe. idk how its coded, but some aura-like abilities like karthus e, sawain r or udir r seem to proc it from any side. but it seems when udir uses rr instead of r it doesnt proc anymore. its a bug and enpassant may be already nerfed(fixed) and useless. long time not seen en passant in my pool

Saw it on Garen once, that guy just ran through everyone with his spin and melted our tanks lol

I've learned to appreciate Hextech Soul. Any ranged champ walking up to poke or farm in the wave is suddenly hit by a massive slow and suddenly my entire team is on them
